The more weapons Aaron Rodgers has, the better.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been urged to "add another receiver" before the 2026 season.
D.K. Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. headline the Steelers' receiver room right now. The more weapons Aaron Rodgers has, the better.
"The Pittsburgh Steelers finally re-signed Aaron Rodgers, and the quarterback has admitted that this will be his final NFL season," Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report wrote. "If Pittsburgh hopes to make Rodgers' last ride a memorable one, it should add a little more to its receiving corps.
"DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. should make a solid receiver duo. However, rookies Germie Bernard and Kaden Wetjen are unproven, and Pittsburgh's overall receiver depth is lacking. Adding a vet like DeAndre Hopkins or Stefon Diggs would help give the Steelers a playoff-caliber offense."
Metcalf had 59 receptions last season for 850 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns. The 850 receiving yards were a career low for the two-time Pro Bowler.
Meanwhile, Pittman Jr. had 80 receptions for 784 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns with the Indianapolis Colts.
Rodgers has two stars to throw to next season. If the Steelers can give the future Hall of Famer a third option who is reliable, Pittsburgh could be very explosive on offense in 2026.
The Steelers won the AFC North last season but lost to the Houston Texans at home in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs.
"I think we were close last year," Rodgers said. "I think we added some good pieces. I felt like we needed a lineman probably at some point, drafted a guy in the first round that I like. I thought we needed somebody who could work in the slot. Obviously, Germie (Bernard), being picked there, is a guy they think can do it. Bring in (Michael) Pittman, was obviously a good addition. Rico Dowdle, Jamel (Dean) on defense. (Jaquan) Brisker as well, so a lot of good pieces added to the mix."
One of the top quarterbacks in NFL history, Rodgers put up 3,322 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions last season. The future Hall of Famer completed 65.7% of his passes.
New Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy and Rodgers won Super Bowl XLV against the Steelers as members of the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers, 42, called it a "full circle" moment to play for McCarthy again.
Rodgers has been in the NFL since 2005. He has played for the Packers, New York Jets and Steelers and has 527 career passing touchdowns and 66,274 career passing yards in the regular season.
2026 will be Rodgers' final season in the NFL. It will be fascinating to see how far the Steelers go.
