The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Super Bowl champion Sebastian Joseph-Day to a two-year, $11 million deal that includes $6 million in the 2026 season.
Joseph-Day instantly adds to Pittsburgh's defensive line that features a ton of talent, including TJ Watt and Cameron Heyward.
Joseph-Day spent the 2025 season with the Tennessee Titans, finishing with 41 total tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, and a fumble recovery.
He is a run-stuffing defensive tackle who can contribute in the pass rush as well. The 30-year-old adds to a defense that the Steelers are retooling this offense.
General manager Omar Khan has added a ton to the secondary with the free agent signings of cornerback Jamel Dean and safeties Jaquan Brisker and Darnell Savage.
With those additions and fortifying the defensive line with Joseph-Day, Pittsburgh has the potential to be one of the best defenses in the league in 2026.
Watt will lead the way on the defensive line. He finished the 2025 campaign with 55 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, seven sacks, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
Heyward was also impactful, as he had 78 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. He was named a second-team All-Pro and inked a one-year extension, tying him to the franchise through the 2027 season.
Steve Roberts-Imagn ImagesJoseph-Day will complement him well in their 3-4 defense, containing the run while Heyward and Watt excel at rushing the passer.
The Steelers are making win-now moves despite losing longtime head coach Mike Tomlin this offseason. They have shown they still want to compete by bringing in Mike McCarthy as their next head coach.
McCarthy won a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers and also had successful seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.
McCarthy will look to lead the Steelers to their second straight AFC North title and make another playoff appearance.
Pittsburgh has addressed some of its biggest needs with additions to the secondary, the defensive line, and the wide receiver position.
The Steelers will now wait to see if Aaron Rodgers returns as their quarterback for 2026 or if they have to go in another direction.
