Chris Boswell got paid handsomely by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Pittsburgh Steelers are signing kicker Chris Boswell to a four-year, $28 million extension.
The $7 million average per year ties Boswell with Brandon Aubrey of the Dallas Cowboys for the highest-paid kicker in NFL history.
Boswell is now locked in with the Steelers through the 2030 season.
Boswell went 27/32 on kicks and 42/53 on extra points last season. The two-time Pro Bowler has spent his entire NFL career with the Steelers.
The 35-year-old Boswell is 299/341 on kicks and 353/369 on extra points in his career. He's one of the most consistent kickers in the NFL.
The Steelers lost to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round last season. Mike Tomlin stepped down as head coach after a legendary run in Pittsburgh. Former Green Bay Packers and Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is new coach.
With QB Aaron Rodgers remaining unsigned in free agency, the Steelers applied the rarely used UFA tender on the veteran QB late last month, ensuring they would be eligible to secure a compensatory draft pick if he signed with another team.
If Rodgers were to sign the tender, he would receive a 10% raise from last year's salary, which would pay him about $15 million this season. The tender also gives the Steelers exclusive negotiating rights with the quarterback if he does not sign with another team by July 22 or the first day of Pittsburgh's training camp, whichever is later.
One of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, Rodgers finished with 3,322 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2025. He completed 65.7% of his passes.
McCarthy and Rodgers won Super Bowl XLV against the Steelers as members of the Packers. Rodgers told Pat McAfee a couple of months ago that he's open to playing for McCarthy again.
A four-time MVP and future Hall of Famer, Rodgers has played for the Packers, New York Jets and Steelers. He has 527 career passing touchdowns and 66,274 career passing yards
If Rodgers retires from the NFL, Drew Allar, Mason Rudolph or Will Howard will start next season.
