The Pittsburgh Steelers have landed a defensive back in free agency.

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to be active this offseason, as they are signing former Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker to a one-year, $5.5 million deal.

Brisker is a talented defensive back and adds to the Steelers' secondary. Pittsburgh has made upgrading the secondary a priority, adding cornerback Jamel Dean, safety Darnell Savage, and now Brisker in free agency.

Those additions add to the roster that has Joey Porter Jr., Asante Samuel Jr., and Jalen Ramsey.

The Steelers secondary was one of the weaker points of their roster in the 2025 season, but they have added quality pieces in free agency to round out the group.

Adding Brisker on a one-year deal is a valuable signing. The 26-year-old was a second-round pick by the Chicago Bears in the 2022 NFL Draft.

In the 2025 season, Brisker finished with 93 total tackles, one tackle for loss, a sack, an interception, and eight pass deflections.

He is a talented safety who could have a major impact on Pittsburgh's defense in the 2026 campaign.

The Steelers went 10-7 in the 2025 season, winning the AFC North title over the Baltimore Ravens in the regular season finale. Head coach Mike Tomlin then resigned after 20 years with the franchise.

To replace Tomlin and remain competitive, Pittsburgh hired Mike McCarthy, who previously had success as a head coach, winning a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers and posting quality seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.

McCarthy will look to lead the Steelers to a second straight AFC North title and another playoff appearance. The additions to the secondary, like Brisker, will go a long way in maximizing the defense.

They have a talented pass rush with TJ Watt and Cameron Heyward leading the way, and with better talent on the back end, their defense could rank near the top of the league next season.

Pittsburgh isn't only upgrading its defense, but also addressing another key need on offense. The Steelers acquired wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts.

They then extended Pittman Jr. on a three-year, $59 million deal. Wide receiver was one of the roster's biggest holes, and they now feature a solid top two weapons in Pittman Jr. and DK Metcalf.

The Steelers still have some work to do this offseason, but general manager Omar Khan has made some impactful moves, including adding Brisker to their secondary.
