Pittsburgh Steelers veteran Aaron Rodgers got a C+ Week 1 QB grade.
In Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers went 24/40 for 221 passing yards and one passing touchdown.
The future Hall of Famer was sacked twice and didn't throw an interception.
Pittsburgh defeated Atlanta by a final score of 20-13 and NFL analyst Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report gave Rodgers a C+ Week 1 QB grade.
"The idea of Aaron Rodgers carrying an offense is long gone. However, the league's oldest player understands the Steelers are close to clicking, even if the unit didn't quite reach that level against the Atlanta Falcons," Sobleski wrote.
Rodgers didn't play in the preseason. Even though he knows Mike McCarthy's system well, Rodgers and the Steelers' offense weren't that impressive against the Falcons.
"We had a chance to be really, really explosive," Rodgers said during a postgame interview with FOX Sports' Pam Oliver. "We had a couple drops. A couple off targets. A couple non-calls that looked like penalties. ... We were just a little bit off."
This was Rodgers' final season opener, as the four-time MVP is retiring from the NFL after this season. The one-time Super Bowl MVP must play better moving forward for the Steelers to make the playoffs.
Rodgers hasn't won a playoff game since the 2020 season, while the Steelers haven't won a postseason game since the 2016 season. Only time will tell if Pittsburgh even makes the playoffs, as the team has a tough schedule.
McCarthy and Rodgers won Super Bowl XLV against the Steelers as members of the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers has been in the NFL since 2005. He has played for the Packers, New York Jets and Steelers.
Rodgers put up 3,322 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions last season. He completed 65.7% of his passes.
It will be intriguing to see what kind of numbers Rodgers put up this season with McCarthy by his side again.
The Steelers face the New England Patriots in Week 2. That will be a good game, as the Patriots made the Super Bowl last season but are coming off a bad Week 1 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
