Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been given a troubling outlook before the team's Week 3 game.
The Pittsburgh Steelers sit at 1-1 for the new NFL season, but entering Week 3, there seems to be a lot of doubt going around about them.
Pittsburgh was only able to score three points in their Week 2 loss against the New England Patriots, with the offense looking flat again. Even in the Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons, the Steelers didn't look that great against a third-string quarterback.
So, as the team enters Week 3 against the rival Cincinnati Bengals, the pressure is on this group to turn things around. Cincinnati enters the game 2-0, with a completely revamped defense that has played better this season.
But the entire game will likely come down to how the offense performs, mainly quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has looked okay to start the season, but the entire offense as a whole just hasn't gotten the job done.
Entering the game against the Bengals, there seems to be a lot of panic around Rodgers and the Steelers. On the year, Rodgers has thrown for 408 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
These numbers aren't going to get the job done, especially if the Steelers want to compete for a postseason spot. NFL analyst Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report put together a panic meter for struggling quarterbacks around the league.
For Rodgers, Gagnon placed him at a nine out of 10, showing real fear in this offense moving forward. And if they can't get anything going this week, there will be even more questions going around this team.
Rodgers was reunited with former head coach Mike McCarthy this season, and this was supposed to help the offense be more consistent. But at least through the first two games of the season, things have been more of the same from a year ago.
The Steelers defense has been the aspect to carry them so far this year, but the offense is going to need to do its part. Against the Bengals, Pittsburgh may be able to exploit some weaknesses, mainly with their tight ends.
Even with the new defense, Cincinnati is still prone to giving up passing yards and the Houston Texans took advantage last week. But Rodgers is going to need to make plays to win this game; otherwise, a 1-2 start to the season will raise more questions around Pittsburgh.
Division games are never easy, and these two teams tend to play close contests each time they get together. But this week could help set the tone for the Steelers, and there is real pressure to find a way to win.
