Rodgers continues to add to the history books.
The Pittsburgh Steelers keep confusing us more and more each week, sometimes they look like a very good team, and other times they look about average.
We have to give the Steelers a lot of credit for what they've done in two of the past three weeks, especially in Week 5, when they took on a decent Indianapolis Colts team.
While the Colts are 2-3 and haven't played well all season, they're still a good team with a chance to make the playoffs.
The Steelers are in a similar boat, which made this one almost feel like a must-win. The Steelers' offense once again got a lot going, led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was 22 of 31 for 235 yards and an impressive three touchdowns. To make it even more impressive, Rodgers was sacked only once and finished with a 125.1 passer rating.
Pittsburgh had to be mindful of keeping him upright entering the season, and on Sunday, they did just that.
The offensive line looked great in this one, and running back Jaylen Warren did everything on the rushing attack that anyone could have asked for. Warren finished this game with 15 carries for 101 yards, including a touchdown.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Rodgers wanted to talk about some history made. Rodgers also made some history himself, per the team.
"I felt like we moved the ball pretty good, but we also had some splash plays," said Rodgers. "Obviously, you throw in the flat and go 80, that's a big boost. Also had a 50-yard run. First guy since Herschel Walker in 1986, I just found out. An 80-yard catch and a 50-yard run, that's pretty incredible. Let's see, it would have been, what, 40 years. Yeah, pretty outstanding."
“Per NFL Research, it was Rodgers 90th career game with at least three touchdown passes, joining Tom Brady (104), Drew Brees (97) and Peyton Manning (93) as the only players in NFL history with at least 90 such games,” the Steelers official site wrote.
Warren also caught six for 87 yards, finishing with 188 total yards. If this is the kind of production the Steelers get from him week in and week out, this offense will be much scarier than anybody anticipated entering the year.
A lot of this falls on Rodgers and what the offensive line can do when it matters most, but there were some very promising signs, and that's the biggest part here.
