Landing the veteran would be more than ideal.

The Pittsburgh Steelers haven't played perfect football this season, but they've played better over the past two weeks, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts.

While the Colts and Buccaneers aren't exactly elite teams by any means, there were some promising signs on both sides of the football for this Steelers organization. It feels like the offense is finally starting to figure some things out, which is perhaps the most interesting part.

Much of this is due to Jaylen Warren's improved play, who has really stepped up while others have dealt with injuries.

Even with Rico Dowdle back, Warren helped open up Pittsburgh's passing game in the Week 6 win against Tampa Bay.

Still, there's an argument that Pittsburgh needs to improve on offense, and the easiest way to do that is to add a wide receiver.

One guy in particular who was recently named as an option would make a ton of sense in 30-year-old Chris Godwin could be available, since the Buccaneers aren't playing as well as they'd hoped.

“There is a wide receiver injury crisis in Pittsburgh. Aaron Rodgers was on a hot streak until health issues depleted his supporting cast. In order to maximize the supposed last year of his career and stay in contention for the AFC North crown, the Steelers need to plug some immediate help into Rodgers' receiving room…

“All of that makes the Steelers potentially desperate buyers at the deadline. Chris Godwin Jr. should be on their radar. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, whom they just defeated in overtime, are drifting further into the abyss and should be ready to sell. His three-year contract makes him an expensive asset who struggles to stay on the field, and that is a profile that the Buccaneers would seemingly want to part with,” Carter Bahns wrote, H/T Steelers Depot.

The Buccaneers have had one of the stranger seasons in the NFL to start the year, since there's an argument that this was a playoff team entering the season.

When you factor in Baker Mayfield's injury, though they were winless with him on the field, it's easy to see why the Buccaneers might be willing to move on from him right now.

Regardless, even if it's not Godwin, it should still be somebody. The Steelers have needs, and he can help solve some of them.
