The Pittsburgh Steelers land a true potential star in a new mock draft.
The Pittsburgh Steelers enter Week 6 of the NFL season with a record of 3-2, coming off a big win over the Indianapolis Colts in their last game.
Over the last few weeks, the Steelers offense has started to look much better, with quarterback Aaron Rodgers leading the charge. But this team will need to stay consistent, especially in the play of the wide receivers.
The Steelers still have star D.K. Metcalf on the roster, but he hasn't played up to par since coming over in a trade. Pittsburgh tried to add more depth with a trade for Michael Pittman Jr. over the offseason, but the move has since backfired, at least so far.
This leaves the Steelers a little shaky at the wide receiver position going forward, and it's an area that the team could target next offseason. Pittsburgh has to
In a new 2027 NFL Mock Draft from Bleacher Report's analyst Brent Sobleski, the Steelers addressed the wide receiver position. According to Sobleski, Pittsburgh will take star wideout Cam Coleman from the Texas Longhorns with pick No. 16.
Coleman transferred to Texas this past offseason, looking to improve his skills and draft stock. If the Steelers were to grab him at this point, Coleman would be able to say that his decision to transfer paid off.
So far this year, Coleman has caught 17 passes for 318 yards with five touchdowns. Coleman has helped the Texas offense put it together, giving quarterback Arch Manning a true weapon to throw the ball to.
But the Longhorns star has real breakout superstar potential at the next level, giving the Steelers a steal here. Since Rodgers won't be around next season, having a guy like this on the roster could help whatever player is under center for Pittsburgh.
Coleman is a real speed threat, and he could help spread the entire field out for the Steelers, opening lanes for others. The Texas star has been seen by many as a top wideout in college, and he has all the physical tools to succeed at the NFL level.
The Steelers haven't had a wide receiver who can create separation in a while, and this is where Coleman could thrive. The wideout is a strong route-runner who thrives on getting past defenders in the open field.
Pittsburgh would likely run to the draft podium if Coleman was available when their first-round pick was on the clock. The fit could work, even with Rodgers retiring at the end of the season.
