It looks like the Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping that Marquez Valdes-Scantling will solve their wide receiver ills, as they did not acquire a receiver at the NFL trade deadline.
The Steelers' lack of deadline activity was certainly frustrating for the fanbase, which is understandable considering that Pittsburgh may have a one-year window with Aaron Rodgers.
But the Steelers are typically a conservative organization and opted to essentially stay the course, hoping that the synergy Rodgers formed with Valdes-Scantling during their Green Bay Packers days will re-ignite.
That won't stop Pittsburgh from potentially revisiting its wide receiver situation during the offseason, however, and Bleacher Report's Moe Moton feels that the Steelers could end up targeting Jacksonville Jaguars star Brian Thomas Jr.
Moton listed Thomas among some top trade candidates for the offseason, and he listed Pittsburgh among Thomas' most likely destinations.

"As a rookie, Thomas put together a Pro Bowl campaign, but he's struggling under head coach Liam Coen and his staff," Moton wrote. "Sure, Thomas must shake the injury bug to reach an optimal performance level, but ESPN's Michael DiRocco believes that rookie Travis Hunter was in line for 'WR1 treatment' before he suffered a knee injury."
Remember: the Jaguars also added Jakobi Meyers at the trade deadline, and while Meyers is a free agent this coming offseason, there has been speculation that Jacksonville could re-sign Meyers and then flip Thomas elsewhere.
Thomas hauled in 87 receptions for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns during his rookie campaign, earning himself a Pro Bowl appearance. This season, however, the former first-round pick has logged just 30 catches for 420 yards and a score through eight games.
It still seems rather strange that Jacksonville would trade Thomas so early into his rookie contract, but it's also important to keep in mind that the 23-year-old was not drafted by the current regime.
A duo of D.K. Metcalf and Thomas would be absolutely lethal in Steel City, so it would not be surprising to see the Steelers make a push for Thomas if he does, in fact, become available.
Whether or nor Pittsburgh would actually surrender a first-rounder to acquire him, though, is another question entirely.
