Could the Pittsburgh Steelers replace Aaron Rodgers with this risky quarterback?

It's entirely possible that Aaron Rodgers could be playing out his final days with the Pittsburgh Steelers or as an NFL quarterback in general, so the Steelers definitely need to be weighing their future under center.

Pittsburgh could look to the draft for an answer, but it will be difficult finding a solution so late in the first round. And remember: the Steelers traded their second-round pick for D.K. Metcalf.

There is a chance Pittsburgh could look to free agency, and Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox has linked the team to a rather risky play: Daniel Jones, who Knox projects to land a three-year, $134 million contract on the open market.

"His free-agent stock isn't as high as it was a couple of months ago, but he's still likely to command a deal somewhere between the four-year, $160 million extension he once signed in New York and the three-year, $100.5 million deal Sam Darnold inked this past offseason," Knox wrote.

Jones spent the 2025 campaign with the Indianapolis Colts and got off to a tremendous star, but a fractured fibula (which he played through) followed by a torn Achilles late in the season severely complicated things for the 29-year-old.

Would the Steelers really hand $134 million to a quarterback with a shaky track record coming off of such a serious injury?

We don't even know Jones' timeline yet, but you have to figure that he will miss the early stages of next season and might not be the same when he does return.

The former first-round pick threw for 3,101 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 68 percent of his passes and posting a 100.2 passer rating in 13 games this year. He also punched in five rushing scores.

Jones spent the first five-plus seasons of his career with the New York Giants, where he showed flashes but was ultimately a major disappointment. He was eventually released by the Giants during the latter stages of the 2024 campaign, where he joined the Minnesota Vikings for the remainder of the season.

The Duke product then signed with the Colts in free agency, where he beat out Anthony Richardson for the starting job and proceeded to surprise everyone by leading Indianapolis to a 7-1 record to start the year.
