New Pittsburgh Steelers WR Michael Pittman Jr. spoke about new head coach Mike McCarthy being the offensive play-caller next season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers' offense will look different next season.
Yes, Aaron Rodgers and D.K. Metcalf are back, but Michael Pittman Jr. and Mike McCarthy are in the fold now as well.
The Steelers hired McCarthy, who coached Rodgers on the Green Bay Packers, and acquired Pittman Jr. from the Indianapolis Colts.
McCarthy will be the offensive play-caller next season, and Pittman Jr. is "excited" about that.
"When I got to talk to (General Manager) Omar (Khan) and Coach Mike (McCarthy), it really got me fired up to be here," Pittman Jr. said, via Steelers.com. "I was telling Coach that I'm excited for this opportunity and that it's going to be great. He was telling me about his plans and everything for this offense, and the things that we are going to do, and everything just sounded great. I'm excited to turn those words into a reality. He's an offensive coach and he's calling plays and everything, it's going to be fun."
Pittman Jr. finished with 80 catches for 784 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns in 2025. He's one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL despite never having made the Pro Bowl.
The Steelers signed Pittman Jr. to a three-year, $59 million extension after acquiring him from the Colts.
Pittman Jr. was the 34th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of USC. He has 485 receptions for 5,254 receiving yards and 25 receiving touchdowns in the NFL.
"I love going out there and being tough and playing that brand of football," Pittman Jr. said. "I feel like I fit in well here with that bully-ball mentality they have here, which they've had for as long as I can remember. I feel like it fits me perfectly. Any way that I can add to this team, I'm going to do everything that I can to make this team better and learn from them and try to get it done. I bring energy, effort, and fire. Just that tenacity of getting everyone going and being that jump start whenever we need it."
One of the top quarterbacks in NFL history, Rodgers put up 3,322 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions last season. The future Hall of Famer completed 65.7% of his passes.
