Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. suffered an injury setback.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. was a major offseason trade acquisition for the offense. However, Pittman hasn't been on the field much due to injuries. He has now re-injured his foot and will be out for multiple weeks.

In the three games he's appeared in, he has seven receptions for 89 yards. The 29-year-old has proven he can be a valuable weapon with the Indianapolis Colts, with two seasons over 1,000 yards.

In Pittman's absence, Aaron Rodgers and the passing attack will need to lean more on DK Metcalf, Roman Wilson, and Germie Bernard. Wilson is having a breakout season for the Steelers in 2026, as he's caught 14 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns.

He has become one of Rodgers' most reliable weapons downfield. While Metcalf is a big-play threat and a star wideout, he has struggled with drops, which has led to more volume for Wilson.

Bernard, the rookie second-round pick, could see an increased role in the offseason. He has had just seven receptions for 60 yards through the first four games.

Rodgers has also connected with his tight ends, Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington, who have been quality pass catchers for the offense in 2026. Freiermuth has 14 receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns, while Washington has nine receptions for 119 yards and a touchdown.

The offense has been inconsistent for the Steelers, but they played at a high level in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals. If Rodgers and Pittsburgh's offense look like that more consistently, it will help them win games and compete for the AFC North title.

The Steelers have a chance to bounce back in their Week 5 matchup against the Colts. The Colts have started off the season 2-2, but with wins in back-to-back weeks, they are gaining momentum.

Indianapolis was one of the best teams in the NFL early in 2025 before quarterback Daniel Jones tore his Achilles and missed the remainder of the season. With Jones healthy, the Colts are starting to find a rhythm and could be a playoff team in the AFC.

This will be a good test for the Steelers and how they adapt when facing a quality team. Head coach Mike McCarthy will have to be creative with the offense, with Pittman out, to still produce points, win games, and cut down on Rodgers' turnovers.
