The Steelers lost to the Chargers on Sunday Night Football in Week 10 and QB Aaron Rodgers played poorly.
The future Hall of Famer went 16-31 for 161 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was asked about his starting QB and the veteran coach didn't mince words.
"Sunday night was what it was," Tomlin said Tuesday. "But I have no long-term reservations about his ability to play the position and play the position at a high level for us."
In his first season with the Steelers, Rodgers has 1,853 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions. He's completing 66.8% of his passes.
The Steelers dropped to 5-4 on the season after losing to the Chargers.
Rodgers, one of the best QBs in NFL history, was very critical of his performance during the Steelers-Chargers game.
"This was not my best performance," Rodgers said on Sunday. "I got to play better than this for us to win. Whatever it takes ... if it's better checks, if it's better throws, whatever it is, I got to play better. I will. ... We got to play better on offense, for sure. But this is part of the season. There's ebbs and flows, there's ups and downs, and we can't ride the wave.
"A lot of stuff wasn't working. We were bad on third down. I was just a little bit off. I missed DK [Metcalf] early. Could have been a big play. ... I missed some throws for sure. And then we weren't getting guys open ... times the guys were open, I missed some throws I usually make."
Rodgers and the Steelers are back in action next week against the Bengals. The Bengals beat the Steelers in Week 7.
The Steelers haven't won a playoff game since 2016, while Rodgers hasn't won a playoff game since 2020. Will those streaks end this year?
Only time will tell, but if Rodgers doesn't get his act together, it could be another quick playoff exit for Tomlin and Co.
