The Steelers could bolster the offense by going after some wide receiver help.
The Pittsburgh Steelers were able to grab a massive win over the Indianapolis Colts this weekend, moving their record to 3-2 on the season.
The offense for the Steelers has slowly started to come together, but the team did lose some pieces to injury. Pittsburgh has started to see all sorts of injuries start to pile up on offense, mainly within the wide receiving room.
The Steelers have lost both Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson to the injury reserve, and neither of them will be back for weeks. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers needs help from his guys, and he can't do it all alone.
This could cause some real problems for this unit that has suddenly found its footing on offense. Pittsburgh's front office may need to look for some outside help, and with the trade deadline looming, it could see them make a move.
Due to all the injuries, Pittsburgh was named as a possible landing spot for veteran wide receiver Jauan Jennings of the Minnesota Vikings by Carther Bahns of CBS Sports. Pittsburgh could use another wideout for the remainder of the season, while Minnesota hasn't been able to integrate Jennings into the game plan.
Through the first few games of the season, Jennings only has two catches for nine yards on five targets. Despite Jennings coming to the Vikings to give their passing game a boost, he has been an afterthought for Minnesota.
This could see the Vikings try to offload him, and the Steelers could take a flier on his services. Jennings put together two straight productive seasons with the San Francisco 49ers before coming to Minnesota, making his struggle even more concerning.
But putting him into the Steelers' offense next to D.K. Metcalf and others could help unlock the player that Jennings was a year ago. Last season, Jennings caught 55 passes for 643 yards and nine touchdowns.
The veteran was able to help the 49ers passing game stay alive while the team dealt with injuries, and he could do the same for the Steelers. But whether the Pittsburgh front office wants to make a move remains to be seen.
Overall, Jennings could be a solid pickup for a team like the Steelers, giving Rodgers more to work with during the injuries. This could be a low-risk move for the team that may pay off highly down the line if Jennings can round back into form.
