Sometimes, around the NFL, teams just simply have to tip their caps to other players around the league. For the Pittsburgh Steelers, that was the case on Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers.
Jordan Love was absolutely incredible, throwing for 360 yards on 29 of 37 passing for three touchdowns. If anybody had said that Love was going to have that type of game, everybody would’ve figured that the Steelers wouldn't have come away with the win, and that's exactly what happened.
We can look at the defense, which hasn't exactly been great for points throughout the year, and be concerned, but Love was just great, and it might be as simple as that.
Considering all of the story lines behind this game, too, it's important that Love had this type of showing. I understand that Steelers fans aren't too happy about it, but this was a game Aaron Rodgers certainly wanted to win.
Not only did Love have this performance, but he had some really nice words to say about Rodgers after the game, showing just how great of a professional the current Steelers quarterback is.
"Obviously, being behind A-Rod for three years, being able to see him and just the high-level play that he was capable of going out there and doing and being able to put the ball on the money at all times was very cool for me to be able to see," Love said, per ESPN.
The ending of Rodgers’ time with the Packers didn't go as planned, and I think everybody would say that without questioning it. Rodgers had even admitted that the last few years weren't exactly what he was looking for, but it sounds like he had a lot of love for Love, and he was impressed with what he did on Sunday night.
"He played great, played fantastic," Rodgers said. "He's had a really nice season. He's been really efficient with the football. He's opportunistic, though I felt like he was very patient tonight. He took the run solutions, he took the checkdowns, moved in the pocket well. Thought he played really well."
The Steelers now sit at 4 - 3, in first place in the AFC North, but that lead is only shrinking, so they have to start playing better football in the near future.
