The Pittsburgh Steelers picked up a very impressive win against a surging Miami Dolphins squad on Monday night, showing they might be one of the better teams in the AFC.
Unfortunately for the Steelers, there’s still a lot of season left to be played, including a matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, so the division isn’t done just yet.
That said, the Steelers did what they had to do against Miami, and it was a clear step in the right direction.
As we look ahead to what the Steelers might do over the remainder of the year, there’s reason to believe they could bring in a familiar face, at least for Aaron Rodgers.
After the New York Jets decided to cut ties with veteran wide receiver Allen Lazard, a player Rodgers has openly praised in recent years, some believe the fit is obvious. Bleacher Report’s Adam Wells is among those who think it makes sense.
“The Pittsburgh Steelers stand out just because Lazard spent his first six NFL seasons between the Jets and Green Bay Packers playing with Aaron Rodgers. They don't really have a strong outside weapon next to DK Metcalf. Calvin Austin III ranks second on the Steelers among wide receivers in yards (309).
“The Buffalo Bills previously signed Brandin Cooks on Nov. 25 after he was released by the New Orleans Saints, so they might want to pursue Lazard just as insurance. Another potential option is the Baltimore Ravens because Zay Flowers is their only pass-catcher with more than 360 receiving yards,” he wrote.
The Baltimore Ravens note is intriguing.
That said, if Lazard wants consistent playing time and a real opportunity, Pittsburgh may be the better option.
While the Steelers’ receiver room isn’t perfect, it may offer him a clearer path to snaps.
The Ravens have more overall weapons, which could make it harder for Lazard to carve out a meaningful role.
We’ll see how things unfold over the next few days or weeks, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Lazard end up in Pittsburgh. Rodgers typically gets what he wants and we all know he loves Lazard.
