To the average fan, seeing the Minkah Fitzpatrick-Jalen Ramsey trade go down was rather surprising.

But the Miami Dolphins were adamant about moving on from the seven time Pro Bowler and three time All Pro cornerback, and Ramsey was welcoming a change.

Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN did an in depth piece covering the changing of the guard in Miami’s locker room culture. And part of that was moving on from Ramsey.

“Ramsey's behavior, meanwhile, became a drain on team morale, according to multiple sources, including current and former players, who said his actions varied from being late to team activities to outright leaving practice.”

Not only that, after being named a defensive captain, he along with offensive captain Tyreek Hill took advantage of it, receiving plenty of fines.

For someone who established himself as one of the game’s best cornerbacks in the NFL, Ramsey proving to be discontent in the locker room is a terrible look.

Louis-Jacque reported that Ramsey, along with several other veterans didn’t respect Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, who seemed to be hesitant to reprimand veterans, and let them run the show.

So, with Ramsey. who has always been someone who isn’t afraid to speak his mind, that seemed par for the course. And given how poorly the Dolphins’ season went last year, it made every day seem like a chore for the Dolphins to be around him.

However now, with Ramsey being in Pittsburgh, one has to think that those kinds of games won’t be acceptable anymore.

Coach Mike Tomlin has the resume he has for a reason. He’s a Super Bowl winning coach, who doesn’t take any grief from anyone, and he isn’t afraid to let a player know about it.

The developing situation in Pittsburgh is certainly something to keep an eye on. On paper, the Steelers look like an exceptional team, but so far, the output has been less than stellar. With three massive egos running the show in Ramsey, DK Metcalf and Aaron Rodgers, it won’t be new for Tomlin who’s had to deal with someone like Antonio Brown.

On several occasions, primarily in Week 2, Ramsey has been beaten. He let up nine receptions on 11 targets for 128 yards. He did record an interception against Sam Darnold, but the Seahawks’ receivers getting the best of him overshadowed it.

For someone who’s widely known as a lethal shutdown cornerback, that’s not a kind of performance that Pittsburgh was looking for after spending the price it did.

After last week’s performance we'll be something to look for if Ramsey’s Week 2 performance was an outlier or a continuous trend.

If it’s the latter, it’ll be hard to continue to put up with Ramsey’s antics.
