What players should Texans fans keep an eye on during the season?
What is the goal of summer scouting? Many think it’s to name dream fits in the 2027 NFL Draft; however, this isn’t the case. Instead, it’s to identify potential prospects that could resurface during and after the upcoming college football season. For the Houston Texans, one position fans should do this at is wide receiver. To help with that process, here are five receivers fans must get to know ahead of the season.
Cam Coleman
Cam Coleman’s athleticism, contested catch prowess, and explosiveness after the catch make him a dangerous weapon. The six-foot-three, 201-pound junior has had two productive, yet disappointing seasons at Auburn, tallying a combined 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns. As a result, he left the program and will join Arch Manning and the dynamic Texas offense. He’s primed to break out onto the national scene and will undoubtedly be a premier receiver next April.
Cooper Barkate
Cooper Barkate isn’t the most athletic prospect, but his amazing IQ, refined route-running, and elite hands solidify his status as a premier prospect in the nation. The former Harvard Crimson and Duke Blue Devil followed his quarterback, Darian Mensah, to Miami and is in line for an excellent campaign. Despite not having blazing vertical speed, he’s a quick accelerator and decelerator, making it challenging for defenders to stick with him.
Omarion Miller
Omarion Miller is a well-rounded receiver who impacts the game in a variety of ways. He has respectable deep speed and the route-running to create instant separation, which makes him a three-level threat. Additionally, he dominates contested catches and thrives in one-on-one situations, particularly in the red zone. Because of this, he’s a reliable option that the quarterback can consistently target everywhere on the field.
Isaiah Sategna III
Isaiah Sategna III is an explosive weapon who is dangerous with the ball in his hands. He has blazing top-end speed and accelerates in an instant. He’s a ticking time bomb for a game-changing play, whether it’s on offense or while returning punts/kicks. The five-foot-10, 185-pound receiver needs to improve his route-running consistency, but he has the potential to become arguably the top slot receiver in the league.
Wyatt Young
Wyatt Young burst onto the national landscape with a stellar 2025 campaign at North Texas with 70 receptions for 1,264 yards and 10 touchdowns. Now, he follows head coach Eric Morris and quarterback Drew Mestemaker to Oklahoma State. He’s difficult to bring down after the catch and is a smart route runner who consistently creates separation and finds open gaps in zone. He will be in first-round consideration if he adjusts to the higher level of competition in the Big 12.
