Should the Texans consider drafting Omarion Miller?

The Houston Texans were eliminated from the playoffs last year largely because of their stagnant offense, with many saying that CJ Stroud’s surrounding cast failed him. They addressed the offensive line this offseason, but didn’t add any significant contributors at receiver. With that in mind, PFSN analyst Josh Weil had the Texans add Omarion Miller, Arizona State’s explosive receiver, for Stroud in his recent 2027 NFL Mock Draft.

The Texans’ offense was defined by injuries and inconsistencies in 2025. As a result, it makes sense to add a reliable, yet still dynamic, player to Stroud’s arsenal. Weil notes this and includes how Miller would set their offense up for success.

“While the Houston Texans selected C.J. Stroud No. 2 overall in the not-too-distant past, I personally don’t think they have pulled the right strings in terms of setting him up for success,” Weil wrote. “That isn’t for a lack of effort, but I think Omarion Miller would go a long way to stabilize the offense for him.”

Miller had a superb 2025 season at Colorado with 45 receptions for 805 yards and eight touchdowns. After transferring to Arizona State this offseason, he aims to follow the path of Jordyn Tyson and Brandon Aiyuk to become the next great Sun Devil receiver. His smoothness, athleticism, and contested catch prowess make him an intriguing prospect set to break out this year.

The six-foot-two, 210-pound senior has long strides and effortlessly strides down the field. He expertly uses tempo in his routes to create consistent separation and is capable of rapidly accelerating to reach his top speed. This, paired with his precise route running, makes him a dangerous threat for opposing defenses.

Miller’s ability to consistently dominate contested catch situations separates him from the competition. He has outstanding body control and thrives at high-pointing the ball and reeling in the catch, regardless of the contact. This makes him a reliable option for a quarterback, particularly in the red zone, whom they can throw to while under duress.

Obviously, it’s way too early for any of this to be accurate. However, they are a valuable exercise to help fans understand some prospects to watch throughout the upcoming season. Don’t think of these mocks as predictions, rather as potential fits that could surface again next April.

With that in mind, Texans fans should remember Omarion Miller and keep a close eye on him throughout the season. There’s still ample time before the offseason, but he’s already an intriguing option DeMeco Ryans could consider drafting.
