“Sad news, Tim was playing really good football for us and was having a really good season,” said Texans defensive coordinator Matt Burke.
The Houston Texans suffered a significant blow to their defensive line when the NFL Network reported, and sources later confirmed to Big Sarge Media, that defensive tackle Tim Settle Jr. is expected to undergo season-ending foot surgery.
After reviewing game footage, Settle was seen hobbling towards the sidelines late in the fourth quarter of the Texans’ 20-16 victory over the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. The team placed him on the injured reserve list on Thursday afternoon.
“Sad news, Tim was playing really good football for us and was having a really good season,” said Texans defensive coordinator Matt Burke. “Hurting for him and what he’s going through. It is unfortunate in this time of the year and it is what we are dealing with and we will have guys step up to replace him. But he was playing really good football for us, particularly in these last few weeks. He had a really good stretch there for us.”
With the depth the Texans have at defensive tackle, they should be able to manage without Settle. However, they are also dealing with a significant injury issue as they head into Kansas City this weekend.

Second-year cornerback Kamari Lassiter missed his second straight practice as he continues to deal with a foot injury.
On Thursday, Houston claimed former Buffalo Bills cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram off waivers. He appeared in seven games for the Bills this season and was inactive for five, including the last three games.
Earlier this week, Houston also signed third-year defensive back Ameer Speed to the active roster from the practice squad.
