The Houston Texans already knew reinforcements were coming this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars in a key Week 3 contest, with both Christian Kirk and Braxton Berrios set to take the field for the first time this season. But Friday’s injury report brought even more good news for several other players who had been limited earlier in the week. That pair of much-needed receivers were full participants today in practice, along with several others who were previously limited.

Jaylin Smith did not practice all week with a hamstring injury and has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Jags. Outside of him, though, the updates were positive. Jalen Pitre, who was limited with a rib injury, was a full participant on Friday. Kamari Lassiter had been dealing with a knee injury, but was also a full go. The same can be said for Darrell Taylor with a hip injury and Jake Andrews with an ankle — both limited earlier in the week but fully participating on Friday.

Most of those players were already expected to be available, but Friday’s injury report provided confirmation. Given the significance of this matchup against Jacksonville, having as many healthy contributors as possible could make the difference. For Houston, the return of veterans and the clearance of key depth pieces is welcome news heading into Sunday.

With the Texans sitting at 0-2, Sunday’s divisional matchup against Jacksonville carries added weight. Getting Kirk, Berrios and several other contributors back healthy gives Houston a much-needed boost.

If the offense can find its rhythm alongside a defense that’s already looked strong, the Texans could finally grab their first win.
