The Houston Texans offseason continued their positive momentum over the weekend. The Texans added yet another offensive lineman to their offseason signing list.
Former Arizona Cardinals guard Evan Brown became the fourth offensive lineman signed this offseason joining Ed Ingram, Trent Brown and Braden Smith. It signals a clear prioritization of the unit for the 2026 season.
NBC Sports' Michael David Smith broke down the move to add the former Arizona Cardinals guard Evan Brown. He wrote the following.
"The Texans are adding another piece to their offensive line.
Evan Brown, a guard who was cut by the Cardinals this week, has signed a one-year deal with the Texans, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The much-maligned Texans offensive line also added free agent offensive tackle Braden Smith this week. Improving the line has been a top priority in Houston.
The 29-year-old Brown started 28 games at guard in Arizona the last two seasons. He has also spent time with the Seahawks, Lions, Browns, Dolphins and Giants."
The Texans' earliest and highest profile moves came on the defensive side in bringing back key defensive players and signing impactful additions to strengthen what the team already had on that side of the football. Many believed that meant the team would not focus on the offense and settle for its trade for Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery as its lone upgrade. That has not been the case.
The Texans countered that notion in adding their four offensive linemen and two tight ends to Montgomery, solidifying an already talented group on offense. It directly challenged the notion that the team was not interested in building around star quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Rebilas-Imagn ImagesHow many of the Texans' new signings will start for the team next season is still to be seen. What seems clear is that the team has plenty of options, and that's really what matters at the end of the day.
Ideally, a team would like to have seven or eight quality offensive lineman that can step in to make an impact. Adding four this offseason only strengthens how confident we feel about the unit.
Brown, the seasoned veteran, brings in plenty of starting experience over from the Cardinals to build trust for the offensive line moving into the 2026. Now the team can move forward with the belief it can achieve all its goals next year.
The offensive line may not have been the Texans' first position to upgrade, but it was prioritized. Now, they look to take over in the AFC South.
