C.J. Stroud faces a gauntlet of elite quarterbacks and high-stakes divisional clashes as Houston navigates a primetime-heavy slate featuring pivotal showdowns with Dallas, Baltimore, and Philadelphia.

The NFL schedule is officially set for the 2026 season. The Houston Texans are starting it off with a bang.

It is difficult to find a more exciting first two games if you enjoy quarterback matchups. The Texans begin with the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals, who boast two of the most widely recognized top quarterbacks in the league in Josh Allen and Joe Burrow. Both games present an opportunity for Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud to make a statement that he is the quarterback of the future.

Next up the annually anticipated divisional matchup between the Texans and Indianapolis Colts kicks off in Week 3. The game could have huge AFC South implications with a good Colts team looking to bounce back from an end of season collapse a year ago.

Hated in-state opponents in the Dallas Cowboys are the Week 4 matchup. The two teams will meet for the Texans' first Fox broadcast of the 2026 season with the first three being televised on CBS.

The Texans play three more games before their Week 8 bye designation. Houston takes on the Tennessee Titans, then the Jacksonville Jaguars in London before another Fox matchup with the New York Giants.

The schedule mellows after the bye week save for the first game out of the bye. Houston takes on the Los Angeles Chargers at 3:05 p.m. CT on CBS in Week 9 before facing the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders. The three AFC North opponents, the Ravens, Steelers and Browns, give the Texans a chance to regroup and build momentum. That is, if the teams perform like they did last year.

The final stretch is where things get interesting. The Texans take on AFC South champions in the Jacksonville Jaguars again before a Thursday night matchup against another 2025 playoff opponent in the Philadelphia Eagles. Then Houston has almost a bye's worth of rest to face the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football. All three opponents present notable tests for the Texans with an interesting scheduling rhythm.

The NFL provided a TBD designation for the Texans' Week 18 matchup with the Tennessee Titans. What date and time the game is played will be worth monitoring especially if the Texans are still in the playoff hunt.

Houston drew a manageable schedule for the 2026 season. It will look to make it back to the playoffs after an impressive run a season ago.
