The Houston Texans have several key players out for Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals, including wide receiver Nico Collins.
The Houston Texans have released their Week 2 injury report for their matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals, and there are several key players who will be out and not play in this game.
Without a doubt, the most notable player who will be out for this game is Texans wide receiver Nico Collins, who injured his hamstring earlier in the week on Wednesday, and unfortunately, he will not be able to play on Sunday.
The Texans will also be without linebacker Jake Hummel and guard Ed Ingram, who are both being held out of Sunday's game as a result of a groin injury. Hummel was unable to practice the whole week, while Ingram practiced on Wednesday but was limited on Thursday and did not practice on Friday.
Additionally, edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney will also be out, as he is dealing with a knee injury that kept him from practicing the entire week.
While these injuries are tough blows for the Texans, there is some good news as it seems that linebacker Wade Woodaz is set to play after practicing all week as he battles through a thumb injury.
Trent Brown should also be able to play he practiced all week and was able to work through his hand/wrist injury.
Lastly, edge rusher Logan Hall should be good to go for Sunday as he practiced on Wednesday and Thursday and took a rest day on Friday, which is why he did not practice.
Overall, the Texans had an up and down week when it came to injuries with some key players set to miss Sunday, while other players will be able to play and make an impact.
With Collins, Ingram, Clowney, and Hummel out for Sunday the Texans will need players to step and the good news for Houston is that head coach DeMeco Ryans and general manager Nick Caserio have done a great job building and developing this team to be ready for situations like this.
At wide receiver, the Texans can lean on Xavier Hutchinson, Kayshon Boutte, and Jaylin Noel, or tight end Dalton Schultz as reliable pass catchers for quarterback CJ Stroud.
For the right guard position, the most likely outcome is for veteran Wyatt Teller to step up and the Texans should feel good about that as he has a ton of NFL experience and has been consistent throughout his career.
When it comes to the edge rusher position, Dominique Robinson and rookie Sabastian Harsh should both be in a great position to step up and provide pressure and fill gaps in the run game.
Lastly, at linebacker Jake Hansen should be able to step right in and if needed Woodaz should be ready as well to ensure the second level of the defense is where it needs to be on Sunday.
So, as the Texans head into this Week 2 matchup against the Bengals, if Houston can take a step forward from last week and have a few key players step up they should be in a great position to pick up a win and knot their record at 1-1.
