Adam Schefter disputes the Titans' potential selection of top prospect Jeremiyah Love. Discover why his draft position is far from guaranteed.
There are two trains of thought when it comes to who the Tennessee Titans should take with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
On one hand, the Titans need an edge rusher to line up on the opposite side of the defensive line from Jermaine Johnson. The Titans traded for Johnson with the New York Jets, sending T'Vondre Sweat in exchange.
A recent mock draft from CBS Sports' Mike Renner had Tennessee selecting edge rusher Rueben Bain from Miami.
Then there is the camp that wants the Titans to take the best player available, which very well could be Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love. The Titans recently added to their backfield, re-signing Julius Chestnut, and now have five running backs.
Fox Sports' Joel Klatt had Love as the Titans' pick in his most recent mock draft. Love had a very successful college career at Notre Dame. He finished with 2,882 rushing yards and 36 touchdowns from 2023-25. His efforts last season were rewarded with a third-place finish in Heisman voting and an All-American honor.
ESPN's Adam Schefter weighed in on who the Titans' pick will be, shutting down the Love pick. On a recent episode of "The Adam Schefter Podcast," he actually thought that Love would be drafted somewhere between picks five through nine.
"He might be the best player in the draft," Schefter said. "That would surprise me if he's at four. I think the Jeremiyah Love watch starts at five, with the Giants, and it's on from five through nine. Here's the thing. Would the Chiefs still take Jeremiyah Love, having paid Kenneth Walker? You know what I say to that? If the Falcons can take Michael Penix after paying Kirk Cousins $100, then the Chiefs can take Jeremiyah Love, having paid Kenneth Walker what they did in free agency."
With how deep the edge rusher class is, the Titans could afford to pick Love at four if he's available. The edge rushers in this class include Bain, David Bailey, Zion Young, Keldric Faulk, T.J. Parker, and the list goes on.
Outside of just running back and edge rusher, this team still has more needs that need to be addressed after the moves they made in free agency. There is still depth needed at key positions, including interior offensive line, cornerback, linebacker, and receiver.
The 2026 NFL Draft will be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from April 23-25. Will the Titans go with another edge rusher and pass up on a player like Love, or will they take the best player available?
