A bicep injury to the veteran backup opens the door for Will Levis and Hendon Hooker to battle for roster spots and redefine the depth chart.

An unfortunate injury occurred at Monday's practice for the Tennessee Titans.

Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky left with a bicep injury and was accompanied by a trainer to the locker room.

With how much the Titans are paying him, he is in a position to be the backup to Cam Ward this season. According to Spotrac, he's on a two-year, $10.5 million deal.

Robert Saleh downplayed the severity of the injury at Monday's press conference and said that more information would be available on Tuesday.

The Titans are already down two players after Thursday's win over the San Francisco 49ers. Jaren Kanak (pectoral) and Jaylen Harrell (ACL) are both done for the year.

As it stands, the Titans currently have four quarterbacks on the roster. If this injury is worse than Saleh believes, this would make things interesting.

Cam Ward, Trubisky, Will Levis and Hendon Hooker are on the roster. Trubisky has been the favorite to win the backup QB job this offseason, but without him in the picture, this gives Levis and Hooker a unique opportunity.

Levis' future with the Titans is uncertain after he went from starting quarterback in 2023 and 2024 to missing the entire 2025 season due to shoulder surgery for an AC Joint injury.

Levis is extra motivated. We found that out after his bold statement earlier this offseason, where he said he didn't believe there were 32 quarterbacks better than him in the NFL.

He was drafted out of Kentucky in 2023 and was thrust into action after Ryan Tannehill was benched. Levis had an incredible debut against the Atlanta Falcons, where he threw for 238 passing yards and four touchdowns in a 28-23 win.

Levis was given the keys in 2024 under Brian Callahan and proved that he wasn't ready to be a starter in this league. He ended that season with 2,091 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

If Trubisky's injury is more severe than Saleh thought, this could give Levis a whole new outlook. Levis would obviously have to beat out Hooker, but he has more starting experience than Hooker, who played in three games with the Detroit Lions in 2024.

For Hooker, this changes this for him, too.

We aren't sure how many quarterbacks the Titans are going to keep on their 53-man roster, but Hooker could have a good chance of making it. Before Trubisky's injury, Hooker was probably a good candidate to be the practice squad quarterback.

Hooker was drafted in 2023 but was still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered while playing for the Tennessee Volunteers during his senior season.

He missed most of the 2023 season and was activated in December of that year, but didn't see the field. He made his NFL debut in Week 6 of the 2024 season against the Dallas Cowboys, coming in for relief of starter Jared Goff.

Hooker could also be the No. 4 quarterback if the Titans want to keep that many.

If Trubisky is out for an extended period, this could open the door for Levis and Hooker to improve their standing in the quarterback room.
