Titans GM Mike Borgonzi hints at draft flexibility. Will they trade up for a target or back for more picks to address team needs?
Everyone has been talking about what the Tennessee Titans are going to do with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but what if they traded picks?
One mock draft from PFF's Daire Carragher had the Titans trading up to the No. 3 pick and taking Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.
The Arizona Cardinals are above the Titans and are in an interesting spot. Kyler Murray left the team in free agency, and Jacoby Brissett is in position to be the starter.
Arizona may not want to pass up on a player like Love at No. 3, but they also have a lot more needs than just quarterback or running back.
NFL Analysts like Albert Breer wouldn't be surprised if the Titans trade down to get more draft capital. This move has its merits, especially given the Titans' many needs after consecutive 3-14 seasons.
Even after all the moves that Mike Borgonzi made to bring in the likes of Wan'Dale Robinson, John Franklin-Myers, Alontae Taylor, and Cor'Dale Flott, it's going to take a lot to get this team from cellar dweller to playoff contender.
Borgonzi held his predraft press conference on Thursday and said the Titans are open to trading the No. 4 overall pick. He also stepped back a bit and noted how many players the Titans like at No. 4.
"It depends," Borgonzi said. "I think we're going to remain flexible and fluid where we're at. Because I do think there's a handful of players that we really do like at 4."
Tennessee is at a crossroads when it comes to a trade in the draft.
On one hand, if the Titans are really committed to Love, then they may not want to risk the Cardinals picking ahead of them in the hopes that they go with a different need than running back.
Then, if the Titans aren't too impressed with Love, it would make sense to trade back and secure as many picks as possible. The edge rusher class is deep enough that the Titans could still get a quality player if they don't pick at No. 4.
The class features Rueben Bain Jr., David Bailey, Keldric Faulk, Zion Young, and many others at edge rusher.
If the Titans play their cards right with a trade back, they could take care of multiple needs in the first round, such as edge rusher, receiver or linebacker.
This decision isn't going to be easy, with both sides having many pros and cons. A trade would make things interesting for the Titans, whether it's forward or backward.
