Titans cornerback Cor'Dale Flott boldly declares his new teammate Wan'Dale Robinson a top-five receiver, a testament to their shared practice battles.
The Tennessee Titans are now full of players who have been coached by Robert Saleh or Brian Daboll, in some form or fashion, following the wave of free-agent signings.
The biggest moves that the Titans made were John Franklin-Myers, Wan'Dale Robinson, Alontae Taylor and Cor'Dale Flott.
Flott and Robinson are already familiar with one another, having been coached by Daboll with the New York Giants. Franklin-Myers was previously coached by Saleh at the New York Jets.
The former Giants corner knows firsthand just how tough it is to cover Robinson, as the two went against each other in practice plenty of times at their previous stop.
On Wednesday, the Titans had some of their recent free-agent signings speak to the media, including Franklin-Myers, Flott, Taylor, and Robinson.
Flott made quite the claim about his current teammate, stating that Robinson was a top-five receiver in the NFL.
"Wan'dale is a difficult receiver to cover for sure," Flott said. "... Iron sharpens iron, and it was a good way for me to get ready in practice... I'd list him as a top 5 receiver, personally."
Hopefully, what Flott said is true about iron sharpening iron, because the Titans just got out of a bad contract situation with L'Jarius Sneed, who only played in 12 games after signing a four-year, $76 million contract with the Titans.
Flott has had his fair share of injury concerns throughout his NFL career. He has yet to play a full season since entering the league in 2022.
I'm not sure if Robinson is at that level just yet, but I did state in a previous article how I think the Titans could really unlock his true potential.
Still, it's very impressive that Robinson accounted for over 1,000 yards receiving last season, with multiple quarterbacks throwing to him. The Giants had Jaxson Dart, Russell Wilson, and Jameis Winston all start for them at one point last season, and Robinson still finished with 1,014 receiving yards.
Unlike the Giants, the Titans have more than one receiver who draws the defense's attention. New York had Malik Nabers and Robinson, but when the LSU product went down with a torn ACL, all the pressure was on the slot receiver.
Tennessee has Calvin Ridley to take away some of that pressure, plus promising wideouts Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor. Plus, Robinson has already spent multiple seasons in Daboll's offense.
The familiarity with Daboll and Saleh for multiple of the Titans' new additions will hopefully help the rest of the team acclimate more quickly to their vision for the team.
