A revamped roster and powerhouse coaching staff have rival scouts on high alert as Robert Saleh’s strategic overhaul positions quarterback Cam Ward for a massive breakout season.
The Tennessee Titans' roster and coaching underwent massive change this offseason.
The most notable moves in free agency were the additions of Wan'Dale Robinson, John Franklin-Myers, Alontae Taylor and Cor'Dale Flott.
Robinson gave the Titans another veteran presence in the receiver room, which it definitely needed. The Titans then selected Carnell Tate in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The receivers are looking much better than they were a year ago, with Tyler Lockett and Van Jefferson only lasting a short time in Music City.
Franklin-Myers will be one of the starters on the defensive line. He can start at either edge rusher or defensive tackle, but he may suit the Titans' needs better by suiting up next to Jeffery Simmons.
Taylor and Flott are going to start on the outside at cornerback for the Titans.
The Titans drafted Tate, Keldric Faulk, Anthony Hill Jr., Fernando Carmona, Nicholas Singleton, Pat Coogan, Jackie Marshall and Jaren Kanak in April.
Now, let's look at the coaching staff Robert Saleh has created.
He has two former head coaches in Brian Daboll and Gus Bradley. Daboll is in place as the offensive coordinator after previously being the HC of the New York Giants. Bradley is the defensive coordinator after a previous stint as the HC of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Titans have even made the interesting decision to split their defensive backs coaches into three groups. Dalton Hilliard is coaching nickels, with Marquand Manuel handling safeties and Tony Oden coaching cornerbacks.
There is obviously belief in the Titans' facility, but how does the AFC feel about the moves the franchise has made?
An anonymous AFC East Personnel Executive told Between The Hashmark's Matt Lombardo how they felt about the Titans and Cam Ward.
“The Titans have added a lot of really good pieces who fit what they do,” an AFC East Personnel Executive tells Between The Hashmarks. “I think Robert Saleh has hired an excellent staff, and I believe in the quarterback. Cam Ward is going to take a jump, and I expect them to be solid enough on defense to win some games.”
You can tell that Saleh was intentional with the people he put on his coaching staff.
Daboll is around to mentor Ward after his previous success stories with Josh Allen, Daniel Jones and Jaxson Dart.
Saleh is a great defensive mind and has plenty of tools at his disposal on that side of the ball with the Titans. He needed an experienced coach to help him run the defense, and that's where Bradley comes in.
The Titans know that a good team is a product of the coaches around it.
