Following a winless start under Robert Saleh, the offensive lineman delivers a blunt assessment of a struggling roster that failed to translate high-priced offseason investments into victories.
It's been downright dreadful to watch the Tennessee Titans this year.
There was plenty of excitement in and around the organization ahead of Robert Saleh's first season as head coach. The team laid an egg in the season opener against the New York Jets, losing 23-10.
The Titans were extra motivated going into Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Titans even had a 20-17 lead late in the fourth quarter, as it looked like they were going to upset the Eagles at Nissan Stadium.
Sadly, the Eagles had too much time to go down and score the go-ahead touchdown with nine seconds left.
Then, after a brutal 24-20 loss to the Eagles, things got worse in Week 3. The Titans offense looked anemic in the rain at MetLife Stadium and fell to the New York Giants 12-7 after a failed comeback attempt.
There was a little momentum building after losing 24-18 to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4, even if the final touchdown was scored in garbage time.
This past Sunday, the Titans and Houston Texans met at Nissan Stadium, both 0-4. It was clear that while the Texans were also 0-4, they were the much better team.
The Titans scored first, adding a field goal on their opening drive. They didn't get close to the end zone again for the rest of the game.
It was a massive step back for the team, offensively and overall. In a rare media availability, Peter Skoronski demonstrated perfectly how this Titans team has performed this year.
He was asked how embarrassing a 26-3 loss to a divisional opponent like the Texans was. He said it was just an embarrassing loss in general, regardless of whether it was against an AFC South team.
"Oh yeah," Skoronski said. "I mean, absolutely. I think I don't even think divisional game. I think we just feel embarrassed in general. It's a terrible performance by our group. So, I think gotta be better."
The word embarrassing is an understatement. No one expected the Titans to be 0-5 at this point, no matter how hard the rebuild would be.
With all the money and investment this team had in the offseason, one would think that the Titans would be in a much better spot than 0-5.
The free-agent additions of Wan'Dale Robinson, John Franklin-Myers, Alontae Taylor, and Cor'Dale Flott improved their respective positions. The Titans also brought in players like Jermaine Johnson and Jacob Martin.
The offensive line is one of this team's few strengths. Luckily, Skoronski is sticking around in Nashville for now. The team gave him a massive four-year, $100 million extension in the offseason.
Until Sunday, the Titans had allowed six sacks, which doesn't jump out at first, but it's a major improvement so far. That was without Fernando Carmona in the lineup as he recovers from an ankle injury.
The Titans allowed a season-high four sacks in the loss.
Things aren't looking good for the Titans as they prepare to take on the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6. All we can hope for is a better road performance from the Titans.
Kickoff is at noon CT on Fox.
