After a frightening season-ending arm injury in Jacksonville, Tennessee's star signal-caller returned to the field at OTAs, showcasing the velocity and health needed to lead a revamped offense.
The second half of the 2025 season was very kind to Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward.
He put up very impressive numbers, leading the NFL in touchdown-to-interception ratio from Weeks 10-18. Ward threw for 1,409 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and one interception during that span.
While he showed a lot of promise in the last half of the year, Ward's rookie season didn't have a great ending.
The Titans played the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18, and Ward scored the first touchdown of the game. Ward had a seven-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter to put the Titans up 7-0, but had a Jaguars player land on his throwing arm.
He left the game with an injury, and Brandon Allen came in for the remainder of the contest. Tennessee ended up losing 41-7, but the biggest loss was the quarterback.
It wouldn't be the first time that a Tennessee quarterback had suffered an injury similar to this. Will Levis played through an AC joint injury in 2024 and missed the entire 2025 season due to shoulder surgery.
Luckily for Ward, the injury wasn't as serious.
"Yeah, his arm's perfectly healthy," Saleh said. "He's slinging the ball. He's got some good velocity on it. Just like everyone else, learning the system, but so far so good."
This is great news for the young quarterback, especially considering how much of an investment the team has made in him this offseason.
Ward's receivers last year were Calvin Ridley, Van Jefferson, Tyler Lockett, Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor for most of the year. Now, the Titans have given him veteran slot receiver Wan'Dale Robinson and Carnell Tate.
The offensive line needed to change after Ward was the sixth-most sacked quarterback in the league last season. After being sacked 56 times, the Titans released center Lloyd Cushenberry and let right guard Kevin Zeitler leave in free agency.
Tennessee added Austin Schlottmann and Cordell Volson in free agency. Plus, they drafted two offensive linemen in the 2026 NFL Draft in Fernando Carmona and Pat Coogan, who General Manager Mike Borgonzi believes are in a position to compete for starting jobs.
After there were some concerns heading into OTAs about the status of Ward's throwing arm, they have been eliminated. Now, the Titans can focus on preparing for the 2026 season.
