Tennessee reshapes its roster after Nazeeh Johnson’s injury and suspension, adding veteran depth by signing former second-round pick Tano Kpassagnon and linebacker Milo Eifler to the squad.
The Tennessee Titans have officially cut ties with another undrafted free agent.
Additionally, they made the decision to put cornerback Nazeeh Johnson on the injured reserve, per Titans insider Jim Wyatt. Johnson has been in the news lately after the NFL announced they were handing down a six-game suspension to him for violating the performance-enhancing substances policy.
The news came out after the San Francisco 49ers game. More news about Johnson came out recently.
On Wednesday, KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson reported that Johnson had successful ankle surgery. He must still serve the six-game suspension in the regular season, but the timeline aligns with when he should be recovered from his ankle injury.
Back to the undrafted free agent, the Titans decided to release tight end Matt Lauter. Lauter joined the team shortly after both Jaylen Harrell and Jaren Kanak went down with their season-ending injuries.
He played college football at Boise State and was a part of the program's College Football Playoff run in 2024.
With two roster spots open, the Titans have now signed defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon and linebacker Milo Eifler.
Kpassagnon played college football at Villanova and was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. It seems the Titans are still keeping the Chiefs connection alive with Mike Borgonzi as the General Manager.
After four years with the Chiefs, he moved on to the New Orleans Saints after signing a two-year contract. He performed well enough to get another contract from the Saints in 2023.
However, he suffered an Achilles tear in the 2024 offseason and was placed on the PUP list. He eventually got activated that season in December.
Kpassagnon was released at the end of his contract and then joined the Chicago Bears. He didn't make the roster and was signed to the practice squad, but was elevated in Week 1 of the 2025 season.
He was sent back down to the practice squad in the same season and was then signed to the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad last year. The Colts released him a few weeks later.
For Eifler, he went undrafted in 2021 after playing college football at both Washington and Illinois. He joined the New York Jets but was waived during roster cuts. He was then signed to the Miami Dolphins' practice squad.
The Washington Commanders picked up Eifler, and he made his NFL debut in Week 14 of the 2021 season. He spent one more season with the Commanders before joining the Atlanta Falcons in 2023.
It was a new opportunity, but he was still on the practice squad. He has bounced around with teams like the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers before landing with the Titans.
It's going to be crowded for both Kpassagnon and Eifler at the Titans. They already have plenty of bodies at edge rusher and linebacker.
They will have a tough time making the 53-man roster as it stands.
