Titans snag linebacker Mohamoud Diabate, adding veteran depth to bolster Robert Saleh's defense and ease pressure on starters.

Even after all the moves that the Tennessee Titans made in free agency, there are still holes on their roster that need to be plugged.

Several key positions, like receiver, defensive line, and cornerback, were addressed by General Manager Mike Borgonzi in free agency.

I actually wrote about how the Titans still had a major need for another edge rusher to start alongside Jermaine Johnson. As it stands, Femi Oladejo is set to be the other starting edge rusher. Oladejo has six games under his belt, with very little starting experience.

I also expressed the need for depth at positions like interior offensive line, linebacker and receiver.

As fate would have it, the Titans added some depth at linebacker over the weekend. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Tennessee agreed to terms with former Cleveland Browns linebacker Mohamoud Diabate.

The linebacker should take the pressure off of starters Cody Barton and Cedric Gray.

Diabate's college career was split between two programs. He started at Florida in 2019 and played there for three seasons. He finished his college career at Utah in 2022.

He went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft and was picked up by the Browns. He made the 53-man roster and played in 16 games with one start.

Diabate then had a bigger role in 2024, but wasn't able to play a full season after suffering a hip injury early in the year. Still, he returned in October of 2024 and played in 13 games with 11 starts. He recorded a career-high 70 total tackles that season.

Last season, he saw a decrease in his playing time. Diabate played in 17 games, starting six. He was used as a reserve linebacker, and finished with 49 total tackles, three TFLs, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

The reserve linebackers for the Titans are James Williams Sr., Dorian Mausi and Cam Riley. Diabate should bring valuable veteran experience to the position that will definitely benefit the team.

The need for an edge rusher can always be addressed in the 2026 NFL Draft since the Titans have the No. 4 overall pick. The edge rusher class looks to be very deep, with prospects like Rueben Bain, David Bailey, Keldric Faulk, and others entering the draft.

The team can always add depth to other positions through the draft as well. It'll be interesting to see what this means for the Titans' chances of selecting linebacker Sonny Styles out of Ohio State.
