Returning to MetLife Stadium after a lingering quad injury, the cornerback battles through physical setbacks and emotions to help Tennessee secure a vital win against his former team.
Tennessee Titans cornerback Cor'Dale Flott will be in familiar territory this weekend.
Flott and the Titans are taking on the New York Giants in Week 3, hoping to pick up their first win of the year.
Flott missed last game with a quad injury that he sustained late in the buildup to Week 2. Flott wasn't on the injury report until Friday. Robert Saleh shared that the quad issues began on Thursday and that he felt it was a good idea to give him Friday off to help alleviate them.
The corner wasn't able to recover in time for the game and was ruled inactive.
Flott is trending in the right direction for Sunday's game.
He still has to make sure his head is in the right place. He is going back to the team that he spent the first four years of his NFL career with.
Flott was one of the Titans players who spoke in the locker room after Thursday's practice. He was asked how he was handling his return to MetLife Stadium for the first time since joining the Titans in free agency.
For now, he's making sure to stay levelheaded and trying to do his best in practice each day leading up to the game.
"Just focusing on practice every day, getting better." Flott said.
Flott started his NFL career with the Giants in 2022. He played in 11 games with six starts, missing multiple games due to calf injuries throughout the year.
He then played in 14 games with seven starts in 2023, but still not a full season. He dealt with hamstring issues in training camp but recovered in time for the season opener.
The quad issues that popped up this past weekend are nothing new for Flott. He dealt with them previously in 2024, and they limited his playing time with the Giants once again. Still, he had the best season of his career, recording 53 total tackles, one interception, and two TFLs.
Flott saw the field more than he ever did in a Giants uniform last year. He played in 14 games, starting all of them. He only missed time after sustaining a concussion from a hit involving his own teammate.
He finished with 38 total tackles, one interception, three TFLs and one forced fumble.
Flott and the Titans will be facing a very injured Giants roster. Jaxson Dart was placed on the injured reserve on Thursday and will have knee surgery, ending his 2026 season. This means the Titans will face Jameis Winston on Sunday.
Brian Burns (ankle) and Andrew Thomas (groin) didn't practice for the Giants on Thursday. Deonte Banks (calf), Tyler Nubin (calf) and Shelby Harris (toe) were all limited. Malik Nabers (shoulder) was upgraded to a full participant.
Either way, the Titans will need to take this game seriously after the heartbreak they suffered at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2.
Kickoff from MetLife Stadium is set for noon CT on CBS.
