Titans deepen secondary with former Jet Tony Adams, another key piece added from Saleh's past, aiming for crucial depth.

The Tennessee Titans' strategy in free agency was simple.

The team has made that clear by bringing in players with a history with either head coach Robert Saleh or offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

It's hard to find a player that the franchise has signed this offseason who doesn't have ties to either coach.

Wan'Dale Robinson, Cor'Dale Flott, Daniel Bellinger and Austin Schlottmann played for Daboll at the New York Giants.

Jordan Elliott, John Franklin-Myers, Jacob Martin, and now, safety Tony Adams are all players who Saleh has coached in some form or fashion. Even Solomon Thomas, whom the Titans traded for from the Dallas Cowboys, has ties to Saleh. Thomas played for Saleh at the New York Jets from 2022-24.

The safety is 27 years old and has been in the NFL since 2022. He's played in 53 games with 36 starts.

He is yet another player who was with the New York Jets during Saleh's tenure.

As an undrafted rookie in 2022, he played in 11 games with one start. He finished with 17 total tackles that season. He became more involved on defense in 2023 and had 82 total tackles, three interceptions and six TFLs in 15 starts.

Adams maintained the same level of production in tackling in 2024, recording a career-high 84 total tackles, along with one interception, one sack, and two TFLs.

However, he suffered a season-ending groin injury in 2025 and played in 12 games. His stat line in his final season with the Jets was 49 total tackles, one sack, and three TFLs.

With Amani Hooker already firmly in control of one of the safety spots on the defense and Kevin Winston expected to start at the other, this move seems to be for depth.

The Titans drafted Winston out of Penn State and were still recovering from a partially torn ACL during the 2025 season. Once healthy, he played in 10 games with six starts, recording 34 total tackles, one sack and four  TFLs.

The Titans released Xavier Woods and Mike Brown earlier this offseason, creating a need for another safety to bolster the secondary.

The question with Adams is whether he can play a full season. Adams hasn't played a full 17-game season once throughout his NFL career. However, if he's able to stay healthy, he could provide some good depth as the No. 3 safety in that room for the Titans.

Saleh keeps bringing the band back together in the Music City from his time in the Garden State.
