Oct 29, 2026 12:00 PM

As trade buzz intensifies around the struggling 1-6 Titans, the star defensive tackle addresses blockbuster rumors and reaffirms his commitment to staying grounded in Tennessee.

The Tennessee Titans will have to fend off suitors if they want to keep Jeffery Simmons.

With the Titans being 1-6, teams are definitely going to start asking about the availability of their defensive tackle.

There's been nothing concrete on any trade involving Simmons as of Wednesday. He was featured in an article on Spotrac about five NFL trade-deadline blockbuster deals.

The article proposed the Titans trading Simmons to the Chicago Bears.

Outside of that, there's been no solid reporting on a trade with him. Either way, Simmons was asked about trade rumors after practice on Wednesday. There was good news for Titans fans.

Simmons said that he's focused on the Titans right now and hasn't heard anything from his agent or the team regarding a potential trade.

"I mean, man, each and every day I wake up, just my goal is to be where my feet at," Simmons said. "I'm always never looking ahead. Right now, it's just be in the moment. And that's from each and every day from on game day. My goal is never changing. I don't worry about the things that I can't control. Them type things is also a distraction. I think, I mean, that's a lot of fans and outside media. I haven't heard anything from my agent. I haven't heard anything from this organization. As far as I know, imma be here."

Simmons has been with the franchise since 2019.

In his first year, the Titans went to the AFC Championship Game. If a few plays had gone the Titans' way instead, they would have been in the Super Bowl that season.

In 2020, the Titans lost in the Wild Card Round to the Baltimore Ravens. The following year, they were the No. 1 seed in the AFC and had a Divisional Round exit at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Since then, it's all been downhill.

The Titans have not had a winning season since 2021.

It looked like things were going well in 2022. The Titans were 7-3 heading into Week 12 after a big win on the road over the Green Bay Packers.

Then, the Titans lost their next seven games and finished at 7-10, missing the playoffs altogether. The Titans went from leading the AFC South and being on the brink of a playoff spot to missing the postseason.

In 2023, Tennessee didn't have as much momentum as they did the year before. The Titans finished 6-11 and fired Mike Vrabel. The team had a 3-14 record in 2024 and 2025.

Now, the team is 1-6 and is expected to be a seller at the trade deadline.

Even though the Titans are having a rough season, Simmons isn't letting that affect his play. He currently has 38 total tackles, four sacks, six TFLs, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery ahead of Week 8.

If he keeps this up, it'll be hard to keep him out of the Pro Bowl or All-Pro conversation. Simmons just had his first-ever First-Team All-Pro selection last season.

Losing Simmons would be a major blow to the franchise. After the contract he signed in the offseason, Simmons is set up to finish his career as a Titan.

This franchise is going to have to weather the storm at the trade deadline to make sure that happens.
