The Tennessee Titans were very busy on Monday in free agency.
There were some minor signings at first, with the Titans bringing in former Buffalo Bills quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to be the backup behind Cam Ward. Then, the team brought in blocking tight end Daniel Bellinger to pair with Gunnar Helm.
The Titans splurged on former New York Giants receiver Wan'Dale Robinson and former Denver Broncos defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers, and the spending spree didn't stop there.
Tennessee reached deals with former New Orleans Saints cornerback Alontae Taylor and Giants cornerback Cor'Dale Flott, revamping the secondary with L'Jarius Snead expected to be released in the coming days.
Taylor is returning to the state he once called home, playing college football for the Tennessee Volunteers and high school football at Coffee County Central in Manchester, Tennessee.
It was a wildly succesful first day. But the Titans still have many needs after two consecutive 3-14 seasons. One of the important needs on everyone's mind is a center to replace Lloyd Cushenberry.
Tennessee made a budget deal for former Giants center Austin Schlottmann, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Schlottmann played in 17 games with four starts for New York in 2025 and played well with a career highs snap count. He is expected to compete for the starting center job this offseason.
More reinforcement for the interior offensive line came with Cordell Volson signing a one-year contract with $2.5 million.
The Titans already have 2025 fifth-round pick Jackson Slater on the roster, who is open to playing center. The Titans also had Corey Levin's contract expire, which could mean an offseason position battle between Schlottmann and Slater at the center position is on the table.
But I believe the Titans should exploit a move made by another organization.
The Green Bay Packers released center Elgton Jenkins on Monday, according to NFL Analyst Jordan Schultz. Jenkins missed time due to injury in 2025, but letting go of a player of his caliber is a decision that's certain to generate buzz in other markets.
Signing Jenkins on a free agent deal would push Schlottmann as a depth piece, with Slater sticking around in the mix at right guard.
That's the high-end swing fans are rooting for. But according to a report from Terry McCormick, "the Titans are not in the running" for Jenkins.
There have also been rumors of bringing in Las Vegas Raiders guard Dylan Parham and converting him to center.
I much prefer the Titans to have a veteran center with experience helping out Cam Ward, rather than a converted guard or a young player without much NFL playing time under his belt.
Jenkins would be the best of all worlds, but it appears the Titans are headed in a different direction, likely taking the competition route.
