Tennessee signs cornerback Jaylon Jones to the active roster, reuniting the former Colts starter with defensive coordinator Gus Bradley just days before a pivotal matchup against New York.

The Tennessee Titans are still making roster moves as the season opener approaches on Sunday.

It'll be the first time that Robert Saleh has faced the New York Jets as a head coach since he was fired by the organization in 2024.

We saw our first Titans injury report of 2026 on Wednesday. Cedric Gray didn't practice and is in concussion protocol.

Keldric Faulk was also on the injury report with his recent shoulder injury that he sustained in the preseason. However, he has been a full participant in practice.

The Titans announced more roster news on Thursday.

Insider Jim Wyatt shared that the team was signing cornerback Jaylon Jones to the active roster. The Titans waived cornerback Melvin Smith Jr. to make room for him.

Smith was claimed off waivers shortly after all 32 NFL teams announced their 53-man rosters. He spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs last year before joining the Titans.

For Jones, he is now reunited with his former defensive coordinator Gus Bradley. Bradley was the DC of the Indianapolis Colts from 2022-24. Jones played for him from 2023-24.

Bradley had nothing but great things to say about Jones in a recent press conference.

"I really like Jaylon," Bradley said. "Big. Tall. Lot of length to him. Physical. Did well on special teams as well. He's got that skill set that's very intriguing. Pretty excited about having him."

Jones entered the league in 2023 as a seventh-round pick by the Colts out of Texas A&M.

Jones played in all 17 games as a rookie with 10 starts. He was used mostly as a backup and accounted for 44 total tackles and one TFL.

He then saw a more prominent role with the Colts in 2024 as a starter. He recorded 100 total tackles, two interceptions, three TFLs and one forced fumble.

Jones suffered a setback last season after sustaining a hamstring injury. He only played in 10 games with two starts and had 18 total tackles and one TFL.

With the recent addition of Jones, the Titans now have Alontae Taylor, Cor'Dale Flott, Marcus Harris and Micah Robinson as the cornerbacks.

It's safe to assume that Jones will be used for depth unless he can outperform one of the starters in such a short time, with Sunday's game looming.

We'll see if there are any more additions before Sunday's kickoff with the Jets from Nissan Stadium.

Game time is set for noon CT on CBS.
