As rookies report to the Titans facility, concern shifts to two key veteran starters. The sidelined starters aim for a quick return while Tennessee integrates a revamped roster.
If you were a Tennessee Titans rookie on Thursday, training camp officially started for you.
The remaining veterans and other players on the team won't report to training camp until July 28. Coaches won't report until Monday, and the team won't practice until Wednesday.
This means that we'll get to see Carnell Tate, Keldric Faulk, Anthony Hill Jr., Fernando Carmona, Nicholas Singleton, Pat Coogan, Jackie Marshall and Jaren Kanak on the practice field for the first time since minicamp ended in June.
The start of training camp ends a long offseason break that has kept Titans fans especially anxious for the start of the Robert Saleh era.
General Manager Mike Borgonzi made a big investment in free agency and the draft, and we are now less than two months away from the Titans' season opener against the New York Jets on Sept. 13.
While the start of training camp is good news, there was some unfortunate news for a couple of Titans players. Titans insider Jim Wyatt reported Thursday that both right tackle J.C. Latham and Amani Hooker were going to start training camp on the PUP list.
Wyatt also announced that the team had waived Ryan Hayes and signed tackle Zachary Thomas.
Hayes went undrafted out of Michigan in 2023 and had spent time with the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons before joining the Titans in February.
Thomas is a veteran tackle and former sixth-round draft pick by the Chicago Bears in 2022. He's bounced around the league with the Los Angeles Rams, New England Patriots, Colts and San Francisco 49ers.
The good news for Latham and Hooker is that players placed on the PUP list can come off of it any time during training camp, which will start on July 28 for them and end in August.
Additionally, Titans reporter Paul Kuharsky shared that the injuries are short-term and that both players are expected to join the team on the field sooner rather than later.
Latham and Hooker are both expected to reprise their starting roles for the Titans in 2026.
Latham was drafted by the Titans in 2024 out of Alabama. He spent last season as the team's starting left tackle, then moved to right tackle in 2025, the position he played in college.
He did miss time last season with a hip injury that bugged him throughout the year.
Hooker was the Titans' starting strong safety last season. He has been with the team since getting drafted out of Iowa in 2019.
Luckily, it sounds like these are both minor injuries as the Titans continue to prepare for the start of the 2026 season.
