With ample cap space, the Titans could reunite former Vols WR Jauan Jennings with his ex-coach, boosting the offense and thrilling local fans.

The Titans already made one move before the start of the new league year, trading defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat to the New York Jets for edge rusher Jermaine Johnson II

Before that, the team released safety Xavier Woods and center Lloyd Cushenberry to free up space. After the release of those two is processed by the NFL, the Titans will have roughly $110 million in cap space.

Johnson is familiar with the newly-hired Titans head coach, Robert Saleh. Saleh was Johnson's head coach from 2022-24. Johnson had the best season of his Jets career in 2023, when he made the Pro Bowl after finishing with 55 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, 11 TFLs, one interception and one fumble recovery.

Another player with ties to Saleh could be a great addition by the Titans this offseason.

That player? None other than former Tennessee Volunteers wideout Jauan Jennings. Saleh was the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator before accepting the head coaching position with the Titans.

Jennings had an exciting college career with the Volunteers and could be a fan favorite if he returns home to Tennessee. One of the many highlights of his college career was the game-winning Hail Mary catch he had against the Georgia Bulldogs in 2016.

Jennings even played high school football in the Volunteer State, attending Blackman High School.

The receiver just accounted for 643 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games played for the 49ers last season.

It's also clear that the Titans need help at receiver.

Their leading receiver was tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo, with 560 receiving yards in 2025. Calvin Ridley has yet to live up to his four-year, $92 million contract. Still, after eclipsing the 1,000-yard mark in 2024, he suffered a season-ending fibula injury after playing in just seven games in 2025.

Aside from Okonkwo, the Titans' other top receivers were rookies Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor.

The only issue is that Jennings' market value is $22.6 million on Spotrac. That would be more per year than what Ridley is making.

Returning home may be enough for Jennings to join the Titans on a lesser deal, plus he's already familiar with Saleh.

Bringing Jennings back home to the Volunteer State could bring a boost to a struggling Titans secondary and a move that fans of the Vols will love.
