Titans bolster defensive line, adding Jordan Elliott, a former 49ers standout coached by Robert Saleh, for crucial interior depth.

Just when you thought the Tennessee Titans were done in free agency, they spent more money on Tuesday night.

The Titans have added 11 players in free agency so far, with the most recent additions included.

On offense, the franchise signed Wan'Dale Robinson, Cordell Volson, Mitchell Trubisky, Daniel Bellinger and Austin Schlottmann.

On the defensive side of the ball, the team brought in John Franklin-Myers, Alontae Taylor, Cor'Dale Flott and Joshua Williams.

Special teams had a new face join the team, with former Kansas City Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend heading to the Music City.

Robinson, Flott, Bellinger, and Scholttmann are all familiar with offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, as he was their head coach with the New York Giants.

There is also a connection to Robert Saleh. Before the tampering period, the Titans traded for Jets' edge rusher Jermaine Johnson, sending defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat in exchange.

Another player with connections to the Titans' head coach was signed on Tuesday night.

Before Monday's legal tampering period, the Titans made a trade that brought edge rusher Jermaine Johnson over from the Jets. They sent defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat over to the Jets in exchange.

There was a definite need for much depth along the interior of the defensive line, and the team padded the position with the free-agent signing of Jordan Elliott on a two-year, $8 million contract.

Elliott started his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns in 2020. He spent his college career with Texas and then transferred to Missouri, where he finished out. He was a third-round draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

He played for the Browns until 2024, when he joined the San Francisco 49ers.

Elliott was coached by Saleh, who served as the 49ers' defensive coordinator last season. During his time with San Francisco, Elliott accounted for 50 total tackles and three TFLs.

Replacing a player of Sweat's size is no easy task, but Elliott is no slouch. Sweat is 6-foot-4, 366 pounds, and Elliott is 6-foot-4, 303 pounds.

After trading Sweat to the Jets, it was clear that the Titans needed some more depth at nose tackle. Elliott has 64 starts in 97 games played, but is most likely going to be a rotational piece on the interior of the defensive line, with Simmons and Franklin-Myers taking up the majority of the snaps.

This signing adds value to the Titans' defensive line and didn't cost them much money. Elliott is still 28 years old and should be a good rotational piece on the defensive line.
