Discover why the Titans scout saw a fiery "angry runner" in Nicholas Singleton, drawing comparisons to an NFL standout.
The Tennessee Titans ended the 2026 NFL Draft on Saturday night, amassing eight new players.
Carnell Tate, Keldric Faulk, Anthony Hill Jr., Fernando Carmona, Nicholas Singleton, Jackie Marshall, Pat Coogan and Jaren Kanak were the eight picks the team made.
I did a breakdown of what each player's skillset was in a recent article.
Singleton was one of the many Day 3 picks the Titans made. He played all four years of college football at Penn State, ending his time there with the fourth-most career rushing yards in program history (3,461).
He scored 54 total touchdowns throughout his college career, making plays on the ground and by catching passes out of the backfield.
The 2025 season wasn't a pretty one for Penn State. The program barely made a bowl game at 6-6 but fired head coach James Franklin halfway through the year.
Singleton stayed the course and finished with 549 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
The Titans took him in the fifth round, and General Manager Mike Borgonzi shared what made him stand out from the other running backs in the draft. He even compared him to former Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco.
"With Nick, I mean Nick was a highly productive running back at Penn State," Borgonzi said. "Played a lot of snaps there, too. You know, started there four years. It's funny, I remember turning on the film, I forget who I was watching at Penn State a couple years ago. It might have been two, three years ago, and I see this number 10, and he runs really angry, and he's fast, and he can catch the ball, and there was a guy we had in Kansas City, [Isiah] Pacheco, kind of reminded me of him a little bit."
Pacheco joined the Kansas City Chiefs after being drafted in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Rutgers. He quickly became known for his angry running style in the NFL.
Borgonzi was with the Chiefs when they drafted Pacheco.
Pacheco was a productive running back when he first came into the league, finishing with 830 rushing yards in 2022 and 935 in 2023. He then suffered a fractured fibula in Week 2 of the 2024 season, and missed significant time, recording 310 rushing yards and one touchdown.
Disaster struck again last season, as he sustained a knee injury late in the season and missed time. Pacheco didn't receive a second contract from the Chiefs and has since joined the Detroit Lions in free agency.
Pacheco definitely hasn't been a perfect player, but when healthy, he is a valuable asset. Hopefully Singleton can become that kind of player for the Titans.
Singleton's status is uncertain at the moment. He suffered a broken foot bone during the Senior Bowl and isn't at 100%.
Luckily, he has plenty of time to recover in time for training camp and the start of the 2026 season. This is quite the comparison for the Penn State product.
