The Minnesota Vikings were officially eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday. Despite that, J.J. McCarthy will lead the Vikings into Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys. While Minnesota no longer has much to play for in the standings, the team will be looking for signs of promise from its young quarterback while also attempting to spoil the Cowboys’ playoff hopes.

McCarthy and the Vikings have an opportunity to all but eliminate Dallas from postseason contention with a primetime win. In a crowded NFC, the Cowboys are already long shots to make the playoffs. Even if the Vikings cannot secure a playoff spot, they can set their sights on playing spoiler.
