After the Minnesota Vikings acquired former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray on a one-year deal a couple of days ago, it was to be expected that trade chatter would surround last year's starting quarterback in J.J. McCarthy.
Even though the Vikings finished 2025 with a winning record (9-8), the sentiment around last year's events were of the disastrous variety.
The Spun's Chris Rosvoglou gave more details into the turbulence of last year by stating,
"Don't let the 9-8 record fool you, the 2025 season was a disaster for the Vikings. They watched Sam Darnold leave them and win a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks all because they were committed to McCarthy. To make matters worse, McCarthy only completed 57.6% of his passes for 1,632 yards with 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions."
All things considered, McCarthy may benefit from a fresh start elsewhere.
