Should the Minnesota Vikings Consider Trading Down in Next Month's Draft?
Writing on the Minnesota Vikings for AtoZ sports, writer Tyler Forness explained his thoughts on why the team should consider returning to the ways of old by way of targeting "trade down" opportunities in next month's draft. "After the move to trade down in the first round in his first draft, Adofo-Mensah avoided doing so, potentially leaving good deals on the table. With Brzezinski in charge, there is a real chance he goes back to what Spielman was known for: making trades. With many needs from a depth perspective and a draft class that isn’t loaded with high-end talent, it would behoove the Vikings to consider moving down."

Will WR DeAndre Hopkins Land in Minnesota?
Free agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has been lightly campaigning for his next team heading into his age-34 season. From the Houston Texans to the Cincinnati Bengals, fans and media have speculated over where his next destination may be. Well, it seems as though Hopkins himself has made his intentions more clear, as he gave an audible vote of confidence regarding a potential move to the Minnesota Vikings alongside quarterback Kyler Murray. “Kyler, that’s my boy, man. Kyler is like family. I talked to Kyler throughout the year last year, I talked to him after his situation in Arizona. So, Kyler is like family man. I will always embrace that journey with him… Whatever I can do for someone like that. If Kyler needed me, he know I’m there. If the Vikings need me, they know I’ll be there."

Vikings Sign Tackle Ryan Van Demark
The Minnesota Vikings just acquired more offensive line depth in the form of tackle Ryan Van Demark. ESPN's Kevin Seifert explains the move further with, "Van Demark was a restricted free agent after spending most of his career with the Buffalo Bills, who had tendered him at the lowest level. That gave the Bills the right of first refusal on the Vikings' one-year, $4.2 million fully-guaranteed offer sheet, but on Friday the Bills sent word that they would decline to match. The Bills will not receive compensation, according to ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg."

Will Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell's Seat Get Warmer if the Team Struggles Again 2026?
One of the storylines that has been brewing beneath the surface in Minnesota for a brief period now is whether or not head coach Kevin O'Connell might be on the hot seat pretty soon in the event of another trial filled season? It may seem like a ludicrous idea when considering the Vikings just won 14 games two seasons ago, but things have been quite the disaster since. Now that two-time Pro Bowler and former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has signed with the franchise, the pressure to win has only increased.

Vikings' case to trade J.J. McCarthy only got stronger after Kyler acquisition
After the Minnesota Vikings acquired former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray on a one-year deal a couple of days ago, it was to be expected that trade chatter would surround last year's starting quarterback in J.J. McCarthy. Even though the Vikings finished 2025 with a winning record (9-8), the sentiment around last year's events were of the disastrous variety. The Spun's Chris Rosvoglou gave more details into the turbulence of last year by stating, "Don't let the 9-8 record fool you, the 2025 season was a disaster for the Vikings. They watched Sam Darnold leave them and win a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks all because they were committed to McCarthy. To make matters worse, McCarthy only completed 57.6% of his passes for 1,632 yards with 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions." All things considered, McCarthy may benefit from a fresh start elsewhere.

Vikings Lose WR Josh Nailor to Raiders
Today was the first day of the NFL's legal tampering period of free agency. With that, changes galore were prevalent throughout most of the 32 franchises throughout the day. That included the Minnesota Vikings, who suffered the loss of wide receiver Josh Nailor to the Las Vegas Raiders. Andrew Harbaugh of Vikings Wire explained, "The Las Vegas Raiders and wide receiver Jalen Nailor came to an agreement on a three-year, $35 million deal. ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the news of the deal."

Vikings projected to Land S Dillon Thieneman in Charles Davis' Mock Draft
NFL analyst Charles Davis revealed his "2026 NFL Mock Draft 2.1," and he has safety Dillon Thieneman going in round one to the Minnesota Vikings (18th pick). On his premise of the Oregon Duck landing in Minnesota, “Thieneman’s athleticism and smarts are top notch. He could be a perfect replacement for one of the best if Harrison Smith decides to retire." He continued on Thieneman's replacing of Smith with, "Safety Harrison Smith has spent his whole career with the Minnesota Vikings since 2012, making six Pro Bowls and being named First-team All-Pro and Second-team All-Pro during his career. Smith is 37-years-old and could very well walk away from the game of football and retire. If he does, the Vikings will be eyeing someone they believe can replace him at the safety position. Thieneman in the first round is a candidate for that."

Could RB Rico Dowdle be the Answer for the Vikings After Departure of RB Aaron Jones?
In a piece written by Matthew Davis of Heavy.com, USA Today’s Vikings Wire writer Andrew Harbaugh floated the idea of former Dallas Cowboy and Carolina Panther Rico Dowdle taking over in Minnesota's backfield after the release of veteran Aaron Jones. He stated, “Rico Dowdle came in like a wrecking ball for the Panthers when he was given a chance to do so in 2025,” Harbaugh wrote. “He racked up 1,076 rushing yards and averaged 4.6 yards per carry and was a major reason his team won the NFC South. Dowdle could make the same impact for the Vikings if they decide to bring him in and could be the lead back ahead of Mason if they wanted.”

Could J.J. McCarthy Be Traded Ahead of 2026?
According to Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson, Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy could be a trade candidate ahead of the 2026 season. Robinson stated, "With the Combine kicking off Monday, he wrote, “Throw in some young players who might get a call or two just to see if they are available on the trade market, including Buffalo Bills wideout Keon Coleman, Jacksonville Jaguars wideout Brian Thomas Jr., Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson and Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy. Thomas, Richardson and McCarthy are not expected to be officially on the trade block, but all three could garner some interest and calls.”

Vikings WR Rondale Moore Passes Away at 25
Heart breaking news hit the sports world this evening, as Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Rondale Moore has reportedly passed away. Investigations are still ongoing, but the cause of Moore's passing has been brought to light in the form of an update from USAToday.com. According to the report, " New Albany (Indiana) police chief Todd Bailey said Moore was found in a garage with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Athletic and WLKY-TV, and an autopsy is scheduled for Sunday." The Vikings put out a statement, saying, "We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Rondale Moore," the Vikings said in a statement. "While we are working to understand the facts, we have spoken with Rondale’s family to offer our condolences and the full support of the Minnesota Vikings. We have also been in communication with our players, coaches, and staff, and will make counseling and emotional support resources available to anyone in need."

ESPN Analyst Insists "Top Quarterbacks" Want to Play for Vikings in 2026
In an appearance on "NFL Live" last Friday, analyst Jeremy Fowler said the following regarding quarterbacks who would like to play for the Minnesota Vikings, " "My sense right now, from asking around," Fowler said, "is all the top quarterbacks that will be, or could be, available, Kyler Murray, Geno Smith, this is the place they want to go. It is Minnesota." It would be a jarring turn of events for second year quarterback J.J. McCarthy, but not all that surprising considering how painful the 2025 season was for the purple and white. After watching former signal caller Sam Darnold win his first Super Bowl championship right after leaving the team, one can understand the sense of urgency the Vikings may have in trying to acquire new talent to reach that same peak sooner rather than later.

Former Legend Jared Allen Gives His Take on the Vikings Trajectory After Lost Season
On the February 11th edition of the "Up & Adams" show, former Minnesota Vikings legendary pass rusher Jared Allen expressed his understanding how the kind of urgency Vikings fans have as they are still trying to process the lost season that was 2025. This is especially considering the perception that the VIkings' roster won't be getting any younger. He said, “From a Vikings fan standpoint, you’re looking at one of the best receiving corps in the league,“ Allen added. “How long can we sustain that? We got a defense that finished the season red hot, but everybody’s getting older. Every year they get older and then those pieces start to fall off." The NFL is also known by the moniker of "Not For Long", and this would be another situation where missing opportunities for postseason success can prove disastrous in the long run.

Justin Jefferson Dismisses Bills Trade Rumors
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson recently appeared on the Up & Adams podcast on Wednesday and briefly addressed thoughts of him in a Buffalo Bills uniform in the near future. He mentioned to Adams, “I’ve been hearing a couple Mafia fans talking a little bit here and there, but I’m a Viking." This makes sense as speculation, considering Jefferson's down season in 2025 primarily being due to instability at the quarterback position (leading to the firing of his former general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah). The rumor mill will definitely continue to turn on Jefferson, especially considering Buffalo’s elevation of Joe Brady to head coach (played under Brady in LSU in 2019).

Vikings Star Wide Receiver Justin Jefferson Says Darnold Returning Would Have Been “Better” for Team
In an interview with USA Today, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson gave his thoughts on his former quarterback Sam Darnold being in the Super Bowl this Sunday, as well as how Darnold being in Minnesota for another season would have helped their situation be "better". He expressed, “It’s definitely tough. It’s tough to watch. Of course, I love that he’s in the Super Bowl. I’m happy for him, I want nothing but the best for him, especially the way his journey was at first, people doubting him and people not giving him the respect. He then said, “Everyone knows the difficulty of the quarterback position this year, how we were dealt it,” Jefferson added. “But having a quarterback that already had a season under his belt with us, knew the plays, knew the playbook, knew the players, throwing to me, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, all these guys, I definitely feel like we would have done better.”

Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell Now in the Spotlight After Mensah Firing
With the news that Kwasi Adofo-Mensah is now out as general manager of the Minnesota Vikings, the attention now turns to head coach Kevin O'Connell as one of the most prominent remaining voices in the building. As far as an immediate plan in maintaining the front office, "The Viking Age" (Fansided) reported that "long-time executive Rob Brzezinski will lead the front office through April's draft, then a replacement for Adofo-Mensah will be sought and hired." In the meantime, O'Connell's job performance will be under that much more scrutiny as the perceived "winner" of the Mensah fallout. Getting back to winning football games will be a great starting place for the organization after the rollercoaster that was 2025.

More Pressure on Vikings' Front Office After Darnold Punches Ticket to Super Bowl
Sam Darnold won a franchise record setting 14 games with the Minnesota Vikings in his lone season in the purple and white (2024-2025). This led to an NFC Wildcard berth against the Los Angeles Rams. Unfortunately, they were eliminated after losing 27-9 on the road against quarterback Matthew Stafford and co. at SoFi Stadium. The Vikings' brain trust then collectively allowed Darnold to walk in free agency and sign a contract with the Seattle Seahawks, leaving them with a developmental project in second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy. Fast forward to now, and Darnold will be making his Super Bowl debut in Santa Clara in two weeks after defeating the Rams 31-27 in this year's NFC Championship game. One can't help but think about the amount of pressure that now sits on the shoulders of the Vikings' decision makers, as they pick up the pieces after a disappointing 9-8 season which saw McCarthy struggle through injuries and inconsistent play.

Was Quarterback J.J. McCarthy the "Most Problematic" Part of Vikings' Season?
Fansided's "The Viking Age" brought up the idea that Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy was "the biggest disappointment of the 2025 season." There were two reasons for the sentiment: - Too many injuries - Underwhelming performances at quarterback Nik Edlund, the writer who penned the article, stated, "his inability to stay healthy is at the top of the list. Also, "he just didn't play well in 2025. McCarthy looked like an inexperienced quarterback, not having control of the huddle, and holding onto the ball too long, resulting in unnecessary sacks." With those two major factors impeding the Vikings' chances at success this year, maybe there's a chance that Minnesota looks outside of the organization for help at the position?

Is Raheem Morris a Viable Candidate to Replace Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores if He Leaves?
According to MinnesotaSportsfan.com, the Minnesota Vikings might have a quality candidate to replace recent coordinator Brian Flores in the event he leaves for another job opening this offseason. That would be former Falcons head coach Raheem Morris, who is available after being let go by the Falcons after the conclusion of their game against the New Orleans Saints in week 18. "Morris would definitely be in play [as Vikings defensive coordinator]…He and O’Connell worked together with the Rams in 2021", stated Alec Lewis of the Athletic. Do you think Morris would be a great complement to head coach Kevin O'Connell if Flores leaves? Let us know in the comments section below.
