The Minnesota Vikings have had an up-and-down season in 2025. They currently sit an 8-8 and are out of the NFC playoff picture before week 17s games slate. This is a far cry from their record breaking 14-3 season of last year (although, they lost 27-9 to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Wildcard round).
While this year has gone about as bad as it could've been between injuries and inconsistent play, the Defense at least has been a bright spot.
Led by defensive coordinator Brian Flores, the defense ranks fifth in total yards (292.7 yds/game), third against the pass (168.8 yds/game), 22nd against the run (123.9 yds/game) and 10th in scoring (20.6 pts/game).
His unit has allowed only one team all season to eclipse 30+ points against them, that being the Los Angeles Chargers' 37 points in week eight. Other than that, the Vikings' tenacious defense has tried its best to make the best of a tumultuous season.
In doing so, Flores ideally has positioned himself as one of the more notable head coaching candidates for the 2026 hiring cycle. His previous head coaching experience with the Miami Dolphins could also work in his favor (2019-2021).
