Though the Minnesota Vikings ended their season on a high note with a 16-3 win over the Green Bay Packers (bringing their record to 9-8), questions still abound regarding their immediate future, specifically, about the long-term viability of second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy as a starting quarterback in the NFL.

His 2025 has been marred with inconsistent play and injury concerns. Speaking of the latter, more of those concerns hit McCarthy in yesterday's contest.

According to Fansided's "The Viking Age", "McCarthy had been deemed good to go for the game despite an injury to his throwing hand in his previous start, Week 16 against the New York Giants, and he had shown no apparent ill effects.

But McCarthy suddenly signaled toward the sideline and walked off the field after the completion to Jefferson, clearly favoring his throwing hand. In a flash, he was done for the day, and Max Brosmer finished the game."

After another injury prematurely ended his final regular-season game, the Vikings must address the stability of the possession going into 2026.
