Arch Manning is one of the top quarterbacks in the nation and is an enticing target for the Vikings.
Texas quarterback Arch Manning is arguably the top quarterback in the nation and is an intriguing target for the Minnesota Vikings in the 2027 NFL Draft. His outstanding arm talent, elite mobility, and improvement throughout 2026 make him an intriguing fit to be the future signal-caller for Kevin O’Connell.
First off, it’s important to note the goal of summer scouting. It isn’t trying to predict what the Vikings will do in April or to name a player a perfect fit. Instead, it’s intended to familiarize fans with potential prospects who could resurface in April. So, this article isn’t saying that Arch Manning will be a Viking, but he’s someone worth watching throughout the season.
Kevin O’Connell’s squad needs a reliable quarterback for the foreseeable future. They already have options: Kyler Murray and JJ McCarthy both have high ceilings but have been wildly inconsistent in their careers. Because of this, the position may be filled depending on their results in 2026, but fans can’t count on that. As a result, quarterback remains a major question mark that may need addressing this offseason.
With this in mind, Manning could make sense in April. The six-foot-four, 219-pound redshirt junior has a cannon of an arm and can make every throw on the field. He puts ample velocity on passes and has instances where he expertly layers passes over defenders. His arm is already NFL-level, and it will undoubtedly be showcased in the Longhorns’ dynamic offense this year.
Beyond this, Manning is a dangerous scrambler. Unlike his uncles, Payton and Eli Manning, he has wheels and can break containment to create an explosive play with his legs. He has staggering power and consistently powers through weak arm tackles from defensive linemen and second-level defenders.
2026 wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for Manning, especially during the beginning of the season. However, despite criticism from the national media, he stayed grounded and improved, quickly turning into a premier quarterback in the league. Now, he’s set to pick up where he left off and put together a strong campaign.
If he does, Arch Manning will be a target for the Vikings next offseason. He has the talent to become a star in the NFL and could be their future at quarterback if JJ McCarthy and Kyler Murray don’t work out this season. It’s still early, but Manning is already separating himself from the competition and will have teams lining up after the upcoming collegiate season.
