Minnesota's bid for the 2028 NFL Draft is official! The Vikings aim to bring this massive spectacle to U.S. Bank Stadium for an unforgettable fan experience.

The NFL draft is one of the biggest spectacles in the National Football League. It has been such since the league moved away from its usual spot in New York and allowed it to move to various cities with NFL franchises.

As the league has allowed all the Vikings' NFC North rival cities in Chicago, Detroit and Green Bay to host the draft in recent seasons, naturally Vikings fans could be wondering when it will be their turn to host the draft. It appears that time may not be that far away.

Bleacher Report's Adam Wells discussed the increasing likelihood that Minnesota could host a draft in the near future. Wells wrote the following on the move that could send the draft to Minnesota in 2028.

"The Minnesota Vikings are looking to get their opportunity to host a future NFL draft. Wendy Blackshaw, president and CEO of the Minnesota Sports and Events Commission, announced on Wednesday the organization has submitted a formal bid for U.S. Bank Stadium to host the 2028 NFL draft.

Lester Bagley, the Vikings' executive vice president of public affairs, told reporters the team has 'basically been staying in their face for multiple years' speaking about their efforts to convince the NFL to hold the draft in Minnesota.

Vikings owner Mark Wilf said in a press conference last July that the club has been doing all it can to bring the draft to the city."

Whether or not the Vikings get to host the draft in Minnesota in 2028 will have little to do with the franchise's on field prospects in the near future. It won't help the team reach its first Super Bowl appearance since the 1970s, even should it bring an impactful influence in revenue. No, the draft won't impact the Vikings on the field. It will impact the fan experience, though.

Several NFL teams host draft parties for their fanbases, but being the premier spot to watch the draft would be a welcomed opportunity for NFL fans in Minnesota who have yet to see their city host.

The diligence with which several members of the Vikings organization are moving to make the move happen speaks to their concern for the Minnesota fan experience. Obviously, they want to win, but they want their fanbase to enjoy the process.

We'll monitor how the move unfolds but look for the Vikings to finally get their shot to take center stage when the draft happens in 2028.
